This is the first I've heard of this. I haven't ever bought any WF stuff, but I can understand how this all became a clusterfrak. It's a real shame because the previous owner genuinly seemed to have honest ambitions at heart, and it's clear that handing over a controlling stake to a Chinese company with little knowlege of the Western wargames markets was a mistake. But there's a lesson in this for anyone in business: never rush into selling off chunks of your company to people you don't know or trust, and never hire someone out of pity. I've seen pity-hiring go wrong on several occasions.

What a real shame, the hobby needs more contenders in the plastics sector . I really hope they can start again.

Well there we go. I worry about companies who go straight into plastics though, it's a hell of a comittment especially if you don't have a proven game or range that is growing. If you look at the most successful companies, they've gone "up through the ranks" of metal and resin first, keeping their overhead costs down while learning to deal with the higher direct costs, so that when they are ready to graduate to plastics they know how many they can sell and how long it will take to enter profit after the costs of tooling. I think there's a reason all the biggest companies have gone through that process. One of the key things is that it teaches you about business, like not signing your company over to someone else and subsequently getting your s**t ruined. Its best to make mistakes while youre in the good position of relatively secure margins and captital investment. I see alot of guys starting up in the wargames business who have lots of money but little or no business experience - I don't know whether thats the case here it's just a general observation. This in itself isn't a bad thing, but it does lend itself to mishaps due to reckless action. But the good ones pick themselves up again and learn from their mistakes (like this guys,) its just a shame to go through such expensive mistakes in order to learn. The Wargames industry is one of the few where you can start off with a few hubdred quid and some hard skills and turn it into millions, so I'd usually say it's better to start small and work up. More than anything esle I think that's why companies who cut their teeth on batch production processes such as metal and resin do well when they are ready to go to mass production processes - they know their business well enough to asses and handle the risk of investing in tooling.

What I think this teaches us is "Never bet on a game you can't fix."
