Yeah! I like that model way better too but he doesn't match the mounted one new or old so I imagine there will be some people that would bug. I usually use him for the old profile anyways :/

I wouldn't expect to see the King of Mirkwood dismount model released on its own as I could be wrong but I seem to remember the sprues for the foot and mounted version share parts. Also, the fact that the Thranduil profile in TABA can ride a horse or an elk implies that GW have no plans to get rid of the horse version.

The DOS Thranduil was OOP in the UK but was brought back a few months ago so it's probably only a matter of time before it reaches other shores. Given that there is now only one Hobbit Thranduil profile, that model makes a perfectly acceptable dismount for King of the Woodland Realm (and has the added bonus of being a gorgeous model).

That's a good point, although I have seen situations where companies simply block off parts of the mold where those components are no longer needed. I don't know if GW has ever done something like that though. I prefer the DOS "King Thranduil" mini anyway, so I hope to get one.

Then there's also the old Thranduil mini with the staff, from the original LOTR line, before The Hobbit movies came out. I suppose someone could use that in a pinch, if they had to, lol.

I *think* the base is 80mm, but I'm not sure.

Geez Forgeworld... get ready to get another 250+ £ of my money.
Doing 2 trolls, 2 packs of mattocks, 1 mattock command, and 2 more packs of goat riders.

My aching wallet... :)

Just measured both bases on the photo and if the little chap is on a 25mm base then the Troll is on an 80mm base.

Holy moly, that means that the troll itself must be around 11 cm! I remember times when I used to think that cave trolls were monsters...
Now there is only to decide which one it will be (not which troll I'll buy but which kidney must go for all those amazing releases)

I think I've said this before, but I haven't been a fan of many of the new releases, but wow, those trolls look epic! The command models are pretty cool too, I just need money!!

I would like to point out, because I completely missed this, that both trolls come with a regular head option or a helmet option. I thought the helmet was exclusive to the one with the club, but it's not :)

Are you sure? In the description on the fw site says:
"This model’s head is an especially ugly highlight – but should you wish for a different look, the head can be exchanged for the helmet-clad one found in the Gundabad Troll with Crushing Club."

@Harfoot: the body looks the same 100%, the only things that change are part of the arms and the head!

The guy on facebook who already has both Trolls to hand says that each kit comes with only one head.
