I just went To GW's site and saw the new article.

The foot version is the same as we've had since Two Towers. The mounted one is the "Minas Tirith" version that was released in the last year or so...

Link to article, well the quality has definetly become better! But i still dont think it justifies the price rise but at least GW has something to back it up.

I hope the will not throw out some minaitures....( I mean some warriors and they will put all of them in resin...)

This has nothing to do with quality. Resin costs less than metal, so GW will charge us the same or more for a product that costs them less to manufacture hence increasing their profits. It will also likely help curb some of the bootleg metal copies of their minis being sold as new on ebay.

It's not just simple Resin, and it doesn't cost them less, at the moment its the same cost as metal, but where the price of metal will rise, resin/plastic will stay around the same.

They're also changing the packaging and the molds. Plus its at the same time as the generic price rise ;)

Resin is not hard to counterfeit. You don't need a spin caster.

You don't need a spin caster. :D An equal opportunity for you. Resin giants?

Wow, if your not already working for GW then you ought to be Head of their public relations, lol :-D

Can you not see that this will soon be just 'that game that rich kids play'. When prices reach £10,000 per box, the share holders will still be happy because there are enough millionaires out their to buy a few and keep profits up. There won't be as many playing it though. Not by a long way. People just can't afford it - even if they like the product! I would like a nice sports car, for example, but it will never happen because I can't afford to buy or run one.
Ok, so that is a bit of an extreme example but it is the route GW appear to have taken. Selling less units at a higher price is perfectly acceptable, at the cost of sacrificing gamers on lower incomes.

Indeed they are pushing a lot of people out of it, they claim its a luxury item, and because they are the best miniatures company people should pay premium prices, however they then aim it at a younger audience...

The main issue is the start up cost, where a few years ago it would cost around £80 to get a hobby starter set, a intro core game box and a can of spray, it's now over £100. That's like the amount of money most kids get for Christmas once a year..

Recruitment is becoming very difficult.

Back on topic though.. the Finecast is going to be a very good move.. I'm really looking forward to it :) There are a LOT of benefits over metal models.

Also. People are whining so much about the cost of resin being cheap and GW making their prices high.. What about FW? They use resin... they charge more than GW.. and FW's quality control is awful.. :P

Finecast looks like the best thing to happen to the hobby in years imo. I'll be glad to see the back of metals and their casting flaws and constant demands for pinning. I'm more than happy to pay a premium for better quality minis.

Forge word is the dead letter office of GW .

You are joking or you should get out more

I would like to change the name of this post to the pit of despair. I am done. I am not going to discuss economics with undergrad economics majors or fan boys. Economic pressures are driving the prices of everything up. GW is handling it badly as usual.I hope this does not push them over the edge. I know it will drive some of you away.I hope when times get better to see some of you come back.

I'm in such a state of shock over my previous ignorance. I used to think this was true, then in the past week or so after finding out about GW's new plans for increases I've found several other manufacturers with waaaay better value for money. By all accounts their products are good quality and fit well with the LotR range.

Oh I'm not saying they are the best, they believe they are the best, hence why they can believe they can charge the crazy prices they do.
