Will Thorins Company be sold separately as a box set? Is there any news?
I have no interest in paying for the starter set. Seeing as they have bought out Bilbo and Gandalf in their own little pack, it looks like our Thorins company will come out bit by bit and will cost a fortune to collect.

I seriously doubt they will for a while yet :( They'd better eventually, though, or GW will just receive more neglect from me :)

If you look closely in the Hobbit rulebook, you will see Thorin's company with completely different poses and more details than the plastic version! So I assume, they will release a finecast box set similiar to the LOTR fellowship, which only contains the dwarves!

I suspect that it will contain Bilbo as there are two as yet unreleased Bilbo's clearly in fine cast in the Hobbit book, and G.W's typical customer manipulation would suggest that we have to pay for another Gandalf!

There are so many Thorin's Companies on ebay, a lot of ebay sellers (G.W. staff?) bought boxes looking to break them up on ebay found that the demand has not been great, and the prices are often quite low. All the G.W's I have been to in the U.K. have still got the limited edition GT boxed sets with Radagast, this is a big indicator that the range is not selling well, which has made it relatively easy to get an affordable set.

I don't know man. I hope they release a box set (That is affordable) but I have a feeling that they will all be released in smaller expensive sets, judging by how they released finecast Gandalf and Bilbo separately. They will then probs release one group of brothers at a time. e.g Balin and Dwalin set, then Fili and Kili set etc.....

I really think that's how they'll do it. That way they can stretch it out longer, and you won't be looking at a $200 finecast box set of ~13 short dwarves on foot......

I think that when The Desolation of Smaug starter box appears and Goblin Town is retired, we'll see the Dwarf sprue from Goblin town available seperately.
This doesn't explain the other sculpts we've seen of course, but GW aren't going to want to landfill all those plastic sprues if they can repackage them and sell them anyway.

Why would there be a box set for the second film? The third yes, but they were too time pushed for the second. They never changed MoM for Warg Attack or anything.

PS: I've answered the actual OP in an earlier thread discussing this and will not repeat.

I think its because MoM was released after all films have been released to coincide with the one rulebook. However when each LOTR film was released there was a coinciding starter set for each one as the rulebook was updated every year. Thats why people have speculated that each Hobbit film may have a new starter set.

Quite right SF,

There is no way that they will miss the opportunity of releasing a movie tie in box set to get new potential players interested in the current film involved, and naturally, that's what they did last time.

Aye, but in case you don't remember they were just Mordor Orcs + WoMt or Moria Goblins + WoLA. MoM and EFGT are heroes vs Warriors, and include(d) items not available separately. Film style LotR ones didn't have as much effort put in.
