I thought people might be interested in this Kickstarter I'm running for building your own modular hex terrain, which, as a long time LOTR player, I designed specifically with SBG in mind.

I hope it's okay to post this here - I couldn't see anything in the forum guidelines to say otherwise.

Looks awesome and simple, kickstarter looks like it's been a massive success congrats. Can I ask how big the hexes are, 3in between flats? Could the river tool be used to make trenches?

Hexes are 100mm from corner to corner, which makes them 86.6mm from face to face (about 3.5 inches).

Funny you should ask about river tools and trenches - I'm about to launch that as the next stretch goal!

Good luck, I hope this works out.

I had made a similar set of terrain ~10 years ago and eventually had about 300 x 4" home made foam hexes including rivers, steams, 1-4 corner slopes, and had started working on dedicated forest and cliff tiles.

The customization possible was awesome

- Flatland? Check.
- Big mountain? Check.
- large river valley? Check
- Escarpment/Cliff with several paths up? Check.

What killed the project was the time taken to set up and put away the tiles - an hour plus to create a 4x4' board quickly got old fast.

If I win the lottery and can afford a house with dedicated game space so I could leave the tiles set up I'd definitely give it another go,

Congratulations on an innovative jig design. With 21 days to go at this point it looks like a great success 8)

I appreciate the thought and work you put into this. However,I abandoned the hex terrain concept over 35 years ago.So I am not interested in the final product. I will not need the hex jigs. You have a talent for design. I would be interested in some templates for cutting melon and crenel to crenellate. This is a LOTR fourm so the style would be obvious.
