I had written an article right after I had completed my Abyss/Falling into the Shadow diorama and submitted it ... after having it corrected here and there I resubmitted it more than 3 weeks ago...

as my proofreader seems very much engaged, I wanted to know if it was possible to change the proofreader maybe?

not that I want to sound impatient, but meanwhile many other articles had been published, so a quicker way is possible (and I don't think it is my english or guide itself that makes it very long for corrections - though as non-native-english I might need few more than others)

I was hoping this would be more along the lines of the proofreader getting turned into what Samwise described as 'something unnatural'.

I am hoping to submit something this week and I was not aware that we pick out proofreader. That could result in some people being snowed under and others left wondering where all the budding journalist have gone.

Is there any way of telling who is likely to be available soonest to proof an article, based on the workload they already have?

The task is shared between the proofreaders and, generally, everyone has a workload equal to the amount of spare time they have available. Beatrice, I believe your proofreader has been busy with real life issues lately and hasn't been able to keep up with it as much as both he and you would like.

We all try to keep on top of everything though and Brian and I regularly keep watch over what is being done (and sometimes what is not being done). Yes, your's is a bit overdue. What is probably best is that if anyone has an article that appears to have stalled, then they contact the proofreader via email or Personal Message and politely ask if there is a problem. Just don't bombard them with endless emails/pms ( <= a guaranteed way of getting your article deleted).

And no, Dorthonion, the proofreaders are assigned based on their knowledge and areas of expertise, not by the choice of the author.
