I have to say how impressed I have been with this article Kristoffer; - the finished results are stunning of course (as usual), but the step-by-step photos are extremely well done and demonstrate your technique very well.

The overall design is very good too. I like the way the top of the model curves around in an arc to emphasise the arched doorway, and the blue source lighting is exceptionally well done.

Overall, I think this is your best article Kris and I am keen to see more and more from you. Superb.

In life, there are some people you simply just love to hate just for the hell of it !

Olofer is one of them, what a complete [word deleted] (lol, you will never know what that word was).

Question : when to use the  icon

Answer: when you see masterpieces like this !!!

You should have had it moulded and cast before painting it Kristoffer, so we could all personally enjoy this remarkable piece of work !

Outstanding mate ! I take my hat off to you a thousand fold !

I'm just sitting here... staring with my mouth wide open... slimes dripping on the keyboard...

Absolutely stunning! The guide makes it look so easy, I feel like building this myself now... (at least trying...)

Great work mate, absolutely great!

Definitely one of the most impressive LOTR dioramas I've seen so far.

What I like in particular is how well it reflects the original picture. I'm sure that Alan Lee would be very proud if he could see such a beautiful diorama based on his painting.

Truly fantastic and inspiring piece!

Fantastic diorama and the guide is perfect. I am tempted a little but other things are higher on the list at the moment and I would not use candles for the trees. It's the mithril inscriptions that really freak me out... I bet I could manage even more curses over those. There must be another way of doing them.

Gentlemen, I thank you very much, I really appreciate it :)

And thanks for the nice final things you Admins made, like splitting the materials used into two boxes, and finding the word "PVA glue" for me, hehe! It's really a nice touch that you really put time into your proofing! Dagorlad, DurinsBane and Mac, If I had a hat I'd take it off!

No, It's just polystyrene, no secrets here!

Maybe, but I would give it a try! As said in the article, as an alternative you could do the diorama before the insciptions shows up, and then focus more on painting the wall itself!

Thanks,
Kristoffer

I will be honest. When I first saw this on TLA, I thought it was just ok but I have changed my mind. It is superb! The trees are great (the simplicity of their construction as well!) and it all makes sense now I saw the link between the Alan Lee painting and the model. As always Olofer, great stuff. My only suggestion would be a really decent wooden or stone base to really set it off. It far outstrips the WD Hollin gate.

That's a great article for a superb diorama. How you were brave enough to start the blue lighting effect over those inscriptions is beyond me, although with your talent, probably not as big as a risk as it seems to me. :)

Totally inspirational, a diorama to remember for ever. It looks like it stepped out of the pages of the book, it has that same atmosphere. Marvellous!

Wow thats a fantastic diorama. I like the Gandalf! You painted him very good!
The article is very good too. The step-by-step pictures show one how to make that very good.
I can only say that that article is fantastic!

I really like the design and especially the door itself and the way the it curved to give an arch feel.
well done :-D
I do think it would look better if you moved Gandalf closer to the door so his staff actually touches the shining blue blob on the door
Just an idea.

Man Spider27,
