Hi,

I enjoyed the battle report, I like the layout with the story, photo, mechanics format. The report has encouraged me to go out and buy a mounted Boromir and try out the scenario, (but that's at least in part due to the reference to blips 8) )

Very detailed and well illustrated; playing singlehanded against 21 orcs is extremely intimidating odds.. I would not fancy that myself but then going outside our personal comfort zones is part of life.

Nice report!

A great battle report Pasi, and an excellent example of how I'd like to see White Dwarf do these things. Although you say English is not your priamry language, I really enjoyed the descriptions and the green mechanics section was also a nice touch.

One Boromir vs 21 orcs - Ah the days before powergaming, 1000 point army lists and un-themed forces. This fun scenario can be played for £20 (1 box of orcs and 1 mounted Boromir) - how many GW scenarios can say that these days?

As for the result, with a name like Timo - I dont see how your brother could lose!! :D

Thanks for your comments, everyone! I will probably write another one but on my speed it will be ready in 2008... :) We played "Ambush on the Way to Weathertop" after that (I won!) but I have lost my notes.

@Timo: I remember you supporting the idea of reasonably priced scenarios already a long time ago. You had a very nice scenario in TLA, if I remember right?

A fascinating read, Pasi.

Reading this makes me feel like I'm not fooling myself in thinking I'll enjoy playing games of LOTR with my son in the years to come. Sometimes it feels as though the gaming side is not interesting, and that I should accept that all I'll ever do is collect a vast amount of toy figures, some of which I'll actually manage to paint.

However, when one reads material like this, the wonder and fun of gaming comes through. How better to appreciate those fine terrain pieces (of which you have several) than to maneuver your forces amongst them? How better to enjoy the effort that went into your hero than to see him scything his way through the enemy horde? Yes, gaming is definitely a side of the hobby that I will continue to entertain, even if it takes me a few more years to really start playing properly.

Thanks for the article Pasi, and I too look forward to reading more like this one. Oh yes, 2008 is not too late for me, I'll still be interested. :)

Interesting scenario and great description of the game.

Also, the minis that took part in it look very impressive and together with great pictures make reading the article very enjoyable.
