hm.. i was about to order about 20 paints since i'm missing about 10-12 colours and i'm replacing some of my old paints that are almost over and i stumbled upon this..

any idea how many ml will the new bottles will be?
tbh if the new ones are better quality but -30% in ml I would definitely go with the old ones..
but if the new ones are the same ml and better quality, with a like 0.10 £ increase in price then buying the old ones is not worth it..

argh, i dont know what to do now damn. :(
any chance you got some inside info on the quantity of the new paints? :E

10p? Ha! More like 50p at least. Who wants to start a pool on how much more expensive any new paint range will be? I say the new price will be £3. :lol:

From warseer.......

-144 colours
-lots of renaming of colours, nothing is leaving
-All in different catagories now, Shades (washes), bases, layers, glazes (thin washes) and textures.
-Prices are staying the same !!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, last sentence....out of character for GW as of late.

These are also supposed to be very good quality, from a new manufacturer.

Indeed. That's pretty much the same thing as one of those un-heard of things at GW, a sale! :shock: :o

Then again, we don't know anything yet, it is rumored that they will be the same cost and we really don't know if they will be the same size or not.......I know it would be wierd for GW to release something that's (supposedly) higher quality for the same price and same size, but you never know. :)

*edit* you can only imbed 3 quotes in each other..... :( :roll:

Some more clarity on names of ranges.....
this info indicates that the drys are "goopy" paints for drybrushing , which means they may have some kind of sealer in them. The source also stated that the bases are highly pigmented paints "halfway between foundation and current paints", I take this to mean not necessarily the existing foundation paints (so expect color shifts if that is correct). The layers are slightly less pigmented than current paints, sooooo, no adding water LOL. Shades are washes. There are new paints/washes in each range. I do not know what the glaze range is, but I bet it is like an ink glaze that will darken/lighten the entire surface. The textures are rumored to be paints with some kind of solid, like sand, or they are a thick textured putty and are made to be put on the models base.

Realize that I am ripping from peoples posts on other forums, I take no credit for any of this, it has come from dakka dakka and warseer.

Is it just me, or is that a whole lot more than we have now? It also seems like they are going to have coloured metallics, not just silver and gold/bronze?

Interesting news all in all, thanks for sharing.

I think it's nearly double the number of paints that we have now. I'm pretty excited about this personally, but I'll probably grab some of my favorite paints from the current range just because.

I agree about paint-grabbing, who know which of the new paints correspand with whai, if any, existing ones.

ABout the metallics, if you look at the names, they are all different shades of silver, gold, bronze and copper.

Well, I have no idea if this is true or not, but its a fact that I've been reading rumours online for months about a complete revamp of the paints and colours offered by GW. Wait and see I guess.

I dont mind having lots of paints to choose. Less mixing involved and way more colour consistency if you are painting a whole army, what seems to be the way they are going. From my point of view (and I can be totally wrong!):

Base will be like the current Foundation range, heavy thick stuff with excellent cover;
Layer will be something like the current ones, or even a bit thinner;
Shades will be something like the current washes;
Dry I have no idea, they all look like lighter tones, something you would drybrush as highlight... but is the actual paint any different?
Glazes will be something like the old Inks, and I'm so glad they are back... but only four?
Texture can be anything from pigments (unlikelly) to textured gels or paint. Didnt they used to have textured spray cans? Krylon has some...
Technical is what we are used to, plus the medium. I think this will be the same they had with the uber awesome Heavy Metal set, from which I read some really good things.

The names also suggest quite a bit of Race correlation. I know they always had fancy names, but I find it much more obvious in this list. Will they group paints by race and sell them in sets (a bit like P3 does)?

I'm really curious about this whole change to be honest.

My main questions are...
Will this mean a price increase?
Will the quality be, at least, the same?
Will the pots be any good or the same cheesy ones we have?
Will the current paints find equivalences in the 'new' ones?

I use Vallejo, Andrea and GW paints, and I do love most of GW paints. Mostly I'm changing from GW due to price, the bad quality of their paint pots, and because I can get the other brands more easilly nowadays, but I always found GW paint to be tops and I can only recommend. If this revamp means a whole new "finecast" fenomena though, I'll be done with them in the same minute.

From what I've heard, the prices will remain the same, the quality will be the same if not better, the pots will be the same or at least similar, and the current paints will have equivalences in the new paints. I've also heard that there will be a WD released with a conversion chart for the current paints to their equivalents in the new range. These are just rumors though so I have no idea if they're true, it's just what I've heard. I do hope its true, but some better pots would be really nice.

I am also pretty excited, although I have over 60 paints from various makers I love having a choice and the availability to choose the exact shade I am looking for.
If only my wife would accept that I simply do not have enough paint :).

It looks like it's coming this week, assuming this is what I think it is.

:D We will finally know for sure....
I have a pot of paint I've had since Christmas, wanting to return it. I hope I still can with the switch.

Random thought, but what happens to all the old paint that's still in stock in the GW's?
