Definitely some eagle porn there! fun to play? I imagined Gwaihir would go well with Rohan. Love Gwaihir, hate fine cast though . Rules wise though, I'm pretty much a novice, but having said that, pretty sure that the Spider Queen's movement ability allows her to ignore all terrain features *except* water features, chasms etc. Loving the enthusiasm and output between you guys. Not many good LoTR/Hobbit channels out there, and especially this side of the pond. Lotrsbgbattles is a great channel with lots of content. No offence to the guy, but after a few videos I'm pretty close to shooting myself in the face every time he says "Minus Tirith", though. Well worth checking out in any case, especially if you're not as linguistically OCD as me . Anyway, digression- a decent camera and more experience will definitely raise your "production values", which is a worthy goal indeed, but I for one am enjoying things as they are already. Much rather have entertaining and "rough edged" videos than highly professional shiny ones with dull content. I"m not trying to discourage you from raising the professionalism of your vids, just know that you've got the important bit right already, so now it's just a bit of spit and polish . |

Looks like another fun battle with some interesting moments - whether framed or not! Little point to add: pretty sure monsters can in fact be thrown, but only if the throwing monster has a higher S than the thrown one (so not an option in this specific situation). |

Great stuff, you've got a great style going on and your vids are really easy to watch. Only minor complaint is that sometimes I get a bit lost with where everything is happening when all the fights are in close-up... perhaps just a single quick shot every turn of the whole board would keep it even easier to follow. |

mertaal wrote: ...Much rather have entertaining and "rough edged" videos than highly professional shiny ones with dull content. Agreed! Great report, although I do feel like the first Batrep was the best one thus far. I’m not sure if I like the "2 parts + separate video for the breakdown" format. I like everything in one video. Perhaps, after a certain number of battles, you could post a batrep breakdown talking about a number of battles + other hobby related things. Almost like a sit and talk. Discussions in the comment sections are always great (especially for people who aren't diehards that go on forums) and I’m not sure if a healthy discussion can start with so many different breakdown videos. Just a suggestion though |

Personally I like the breakdown videos. Nice to recap on the action, and think about alternative strategies, etc. |

Thanks for all of your feedback everyone, the support whilst we figure out the best way of doing this through trial and error and muddle through the technical issues that come with producing content is massively appreciated. @Mertaal - I agree, Eagle porn is for winner! I love my Eagle. It isn't the Gwaihir finecast version, the pose of which I'm not as keen on anyway but I did ask Jamie the question... Is it ok to use another Eagle as Gwaihir, considering an eagle is an eagle? He pretty much agreed, that as long as a player that was taking Gwaihir and multiple eagles had a non confusing way for his opponent to differentiate between them, that it shouldn't be a problem, especially as there is no size or even weight difference between the two. It would be interesting to hear whether the rest of the forum agreed? So yeah, we got to see it barge models into a river to get to a shaman, as well as throw that shaman into the river... THAT was pretty awesome. And as you say, it compliments Rohan well, mainly because of the movement. Whereas something like Treebeard might be great if you're taking a foot army (what a beast!) it isn't going to keep up with the type of movement required to make a cavalry list effective. The high fight compliments the array of fight 5 heroes too, as this is one of the main Rohan hero issues, thus saving might for more Heroic moves and less heroic strikes! I have no idea about the Spider Queen rules so we'll have to ask Jamie (perhaps another One Ringer can assist??) I'm glad our enthusiasm is coming across! Especially in light of our camera issues and production teething problems! I appreciate that comment and it motivates us to do more. I also agree that it can only be a good thing to have another LOTR/The Hobbit SBG channel getting batreps out there, particularly ones which entertain as much as demonstrate. Have we got that balance? I think we'll continue to experiment... I'm still using the iphone for now and I seem to have figured out how to hold it and not cover the mic too and I'm pretty proud of the batrep being released tonight (keep an eye out, it's uploading now, 378 minutes to go!) We filmed with Jamie's new camera yesterday and I think for his style of batrep, he's trying the combination of a table shot and the handheld camera to get the action. You'll all have to let us know which styles you prefer but it's good to know that you feel we've got the important bit right It's good to know Monsters can be thrown if you're a higher strength, can anyone confirm this? @suicidalmarsbar - Haha yes, it was very cinematic! Jamie would probably have used a might point to stop me from doing this if we weren't filming but we agreed why not, it'll look cool and introduce new rules to some players. Thank Ste for the feedback, I'm making you famous tonight! And Crixalis, we appreciate the feedback,. Honestly, it was pretty impossible in the Mumak battle to get a wide shot but I get plenty of those shots in on the battle that's being uploaded tonight, so you'll have to let me know if it's an improvement, just comment on the video. Jamie is also experimenting with having the main camera just recording the table all game so we'll see which styles people prefer. @Armandhammer and Mertaal - I agree, I think I prefer the video as one video, although we don't want the batreps to be lasting longer than 30 minutes and this latest one did go on for a long time, with lots of reshooting lost footage. We also lost the immediate post batrep breakdown so I just did it myself at home and uploaded it separately. The one tonight is all together so you'll have to let us know what you think about it |

Hi thermo really nice battle report well done . Just wondered about the charge the sons of Eorl made on the goblin warband who were behind the rock formation think it's about minute 15:26 did you have line of sight at the start of your movement ? We've always played the rule if you can't see an enemy at the start of your turn then you can't charge them that turn is this correct?. |

Yes monsters can hurl other monsters as long as they are of higher strength, but you can rend/barge other monsters regardless of their strength. |

Whilst watching I noticed this to and whilst it's somthing I'd pick up on in tournaments, I let it slide this time as I was concious that the game was becoming a bit stagnant. The next video is rendering as we speak and I believe James (Thermo) is uploading a video to Youtube as I type. Glad to see you're all enjoying the Battle Reports, do the other videos we put out interest you? The Event Coverage/interviews with players and Tournament Organisers etc. |

Thanks for all the messages of support. As for the Sons of Eorl line of sight issue, I didn't even notice or check! Expect lot's of rookie errors from me as I continue to learn the game under the watchful scrutiny of you all But certainly not intentional. |

For line of sight to a model you must be able to see the body or limbs (not wargear or tails). So Ste your models would have been able to charge. Ad for friendly models blocking LoS this is entirely possible, though hard to do. It's a major benefit of an elven cloak that cav/flyers can't charge from their full range, because they have to see you at the start of their move. |
