*tap* *tap* Is this thing on? Somehow it's been three years since I've done a battle report. At one point I was generating them weekly! But life is what it is. I ran across a glowing LED that I thought would be a cool addition to my Weathertop and that was a perfect excuse to try out that scenario from Quest of the Ringbearer ...only to find out that Frodo starts in the middle of the ruins, right where the fire should be. Oh well. Come on over to http://davetownsend.org/Battles/LotR-20240707/ if you'd like to see how my playthrough went. |

Still on Always wanted to add a light to my terrain/ scenarios but forget to do so until it's too late. Nice battle report, Balin's Tomb and Weathertop seem to the most variations scenario wise. |

Thanks! I sure felt better about drilling a hole in my homemade foam and cardboard Weathertop than in a $515 GW model..... |

Haven't bit the bullet on the Forgeworld model - do you like it? Is it a good size in comparison with the Uruk Hai scouts? |

I haven't bit the bullet on the Forgeworld model either, sorry. I mull over taking the plunge every now and again, but I think (like Smaug) it's such an investment that I'd probably be too scared to actually do anything with it. |

Great battle report! I really liked the tables at the end of each turn (very useful) and the images, painted mini's and terrain.Seems like a really flavorful scenario and it seems like the designers did put some thought into it. According to the current edition's rules, when you resist a Spell with a natural 6, you immediately regain a lost Will point, so Frodo should still have his full 3 Will by the end of this game. Additionally, the Will of Evil has been errata'd so that models may no longer spend their final Will point to cast a spell. Not that this would have changed your outcome of the scenario, but I thought I'd give a heads-up anyway. |

Thanks for the feedback. As you know, it's always easy to miss a rule, especially when in addition to playing both sides you are taking pictures and notes. I'll try to remember for next time ... assuming the new edition doesn't change that rule! |

For sure! It happens to me all the time, especially when playing solo. Which is why I'm happy when it's pointed out to me so that I can try to remember and play the game more like it was intended, and hopefully have more fun games (for myself). |
