So I discussed this idea with another local player and we kind of agreed it's something good to do.

What I want and could help piece together with the one ring is basically an entire timeline of the Lord of the Rings universe from day 1 to the end of Tolkeins work. Within this timeline I want not to go over exactly what happened but moreso which armies, units, heroes etc fit in that timeline.

Soon I will go over as much Lord of the Rings wiki articles and sites as I can find, and start to do it but I was wondering if any of you straight up knew a lot or had good references or links to this sort of thing.

Thanks gents.

Have you read the books? They will be a lot more helpful than wiki articles. All the wiki articles do is gather all the stuff from the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, the Silmarillion and the Appendices. Tolkien laid out the whole history much better than anonymous wiki users can, trust me.

The sheer idea of making a timeline from remembering all the details and dates of the books seems near impossible. Offhand would you know when Arnor was founded and ended and the dates and which other armies you could play during that period that are fitting? That's a lot of information to summarize.

And that's just one small quick question.

Frankly I'd much rather look for information written on other websites where people are hardcore dedicated Tolkeins fans than try to figure it out by reading like 6+ books some again.

LOTBR, your direction in the two posts is confusing (you say you want help but that you'd rather do it yourself), so in order to meet both of these requirements I will help by referring you to my two favorite lore sites so you can search this out on your own. Teach a man to fish, my friend ;)

Tolkien wrote out pretty good timelines of events, I haven't checked in a while, but I'm pretty sure the appendices contain those timelines and it would definitely be easier and more accurate to use them. I say this because the LotR wiki is often very inaccurate.

I dont really see where I say I'd rather do it myself. I re read my posts and I cant see it. I would much rather have people who know the lore or have good links guide me to where I can, and we all can, piece this together.

But you are basically helping with what I am asking. At least part of it.

Its hard to describe and maybe I worded it in the wrong manner.

But basically I want to do a timeline where I can write from day 1 through the end of days which armies could have fought when, from the sourcebooks.

Ill have to make a very low quality(thats all Im good for) graphic soon explaining in a way.

Thanks for the input though!
