That's gorgeous, Brent! My uncle and his family lived up there for a few years, but sadly, I never had the opportunity to visit them. Now I am really regretting that!

I envy you pamplemouse. I visited quadra two summer ago, my family in Canada spend a few weeks at heriot bay every year. I love the scenery there. Do you happen to have any pictures of Castle Falls by any chance?

I have not seen snow since '07. We got a teeny bit the other night, but not enough to do any good. :x

Anyone want a picture of the woods behind my house? :)

Those pics of Alaska and Canada are fabulous. And the snow pics - well, we have had snow, sleet, hail and ice for over a week now and I am getting a bit fed up with the ice... I must remember to post some pics later!

Rome was the inspiration for much of the Minas Tirith scenery in the films. Some of the statues are very recognisable, such as the inspiration for this:
http://www.framecaplib.com/lotrlib/html ... tk0708.htm

The original is the Marcus Aurelius. Gladiator meets Tolkien, eh? Dorth in heaven! 8)

It is on the Capitoline Hill, in the square flanked by the museums - the gentler steps on the right lead up to it - the steep steps on the left go to a church where, the story goes, the coming of Christ was foretold, by a Roman. This is a copy of the original which is inside the Capitoline Museum.

Now, there are other 'heroic' horse/horseman statues, and if you missed this next one, you really need to see an optician:

http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h ... s%3Disch:1

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monument_t ... manuele_II

The monument itself is 266ft tall, and the statue is enormous....

Wow, Anduril that looks like a awesome place to live. I live very close(like roughly 15yards) from a forest!

This is a great thread! Some really stunning photos! I'll add some, various places but all lovely. The locations are Neuswannstein Castle in Bavaria, Falmouth harbour in Cornwall, Danson Harbour in the Falkland islands, Volda in Norway and my local Brecon Beacons. Enjoy :).
