Post subject:  Music Recommendation Game

So, another topic to get people talking, the Music Recommendation Game.

The rules are simple: listen to the last person's youtube video (all the way through, mind :P ) and give your thoughts on the song they recommended. And then post your own for the next person!

Please consider other people's recommendations, as this kinda topic could go one of two ways - the bad outcome being people spam it with videos and never watch anybody elses.

I'll start out.

Warpaint - Undertow

Interesting song, it's giving me a bit "trapped and haunted" feeling..
I've never been very good with words and my english ain't helping me either, so kinda hard to explain it better..
Also, I find myself understanding more things if I listen to a CD as a whole, it's kinda hard to get in the mood of a band/song by listening a single song, but in the whole cd you get that story of emotions rolling..
Anyway, very nice idea Shieldmaiden!

Ooo, I quite like that :) Reminds me of a few different things... the piano is quite heavy in the mix though, perhaps that's just youtube. The more I listen to it though, the more I like it, especially the chorus. I'd be interested to know whether that was their 'sound' or whether they just do that sort of song occasionally.

Now for something different...

Excellent choice, Shieldmaiden, though I personally prefer the London Symphony Orchestra's version on the soundtrack "the Greatest Video Game Music." That being said- the piece, while heavy in percussion, slowly builds to a brilliant crescendo that holds drama and excitement without being completely overwhelming.

My turn...

The soulcaliber one is going to find its way onto my ipod - i have fallen for it already.

I can run for miles with this music on repeat.

Pretty cool. After about 3.30 the song gets kind of 'Age of Empires'y and I really like the violins and kind of hurried percussion giving an adventurous vibe.

I don't play video games often so I'll have to break the trend. I hope that's ok.

This song is used as link music for Russell Howard's good news so I think it's going to get very popular very quickly. I love the band and this is track 7 on an album which ever track could easily be released as a single. Enjoy.

*Just realised I posted this minutes after a post about the song about which I was commenting was posted. Sorry :-/

I love Paramore! I have to say I really love most of their singles from their first album the most, but I haven't picked up any consequent albums. Good song :)

Well they were a highschool band so not the best recording quality I guess..

This song is stuck in my head for a couple of days.. The Kinks - I'm Not Like Everybody Else (Live)

I've only listened to the first video in this thread, can I still play? :)

Funny, the name "Warpaint" made me think it was going to be metal, which is fine with me but this was a nice surprise. Nostalgic and dreamy and heart-achy, it makes me think of times when I drove past my grandparent's place long after they've passed on.

This one's about a little darker subject, but the harmonies in Undertow brought it to mind. No video, the few unprofessional clips of this song are grainy or have bad sound.

I just finished this - very nice.

Here's my recommendation - Ramses Shaffy, a very good Dutch singer (don't be afraid, I think you can still like it when you don't understand the words): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8VVDqAasKk

I was watching the video and remembered my mom has a Ramses Shaffy cd about halfway through the song. :P I didn't know this one yet though.
He had a voice, no arguing that! Not really my favourite type of music though.;)

So here's my contribution.:)

Huh. Interesting piece, Amarthadan. Not a bad, light-to-medium rock feel, steady beat, vocals not shabby at all, though it relies a little too heavily on guitar for my taste. :)

Alright, then, let's see what folks think...
