Hey guys,

So, like the title says, I'm asking about the Dain model. I've tried painting him once before, and it didn't turn out so well. Has anyone got some good suggestions on what colours are good to use, and maybe some advice on blending or layering??

Thanks in advance :)

Sure no worries

Many people like colours like reds and greens and blues for dwarves but I dont.

If I were you Elros, I would still consider such colours but in a warmer tone. For example red being more of a maroon colour, Blue being more of a blue- grey(like shadow grey) etc.

In addition I prefer a dwarf to have browns and grey matching his surroundings.

In saying that however this is a fantasy race we are talking about and being realistic with models isnt always the way to go. Having strong bright colours can look good on a table top or display too.

As for blending well I hope some one esle can help becasue im pretty bad at it.

Hmm thanks I haven't thought of maroon on him, I did like using it on Floi the loremaster though.

Thanks...

Ah i think you will find that maroon or maroan or what ever its called is in fact a warm colour.

I think you water your paints down too much too btw. Here's a proposal, try not watering down 50.50 or what ever you do, perhpas just use a little, less than you usaly do anyway and then apply the colour and see if it looks good, just give it a go.
