As I said before: Don't ever, ever use nail varnish remover with any amount of acetone in it for stripping plastics - it does not end prettily.

Cheers DMS. Do you use it neat? How long do you soak it? Help!

Yep I use it neat and the longer you leave it the more of the paint comes off. I put a heavily painted metal uruk in acetone just under two weeks ago and looked at it earlier tonight and there is NO paint on it at all - the acetone has gone black and the uruk needs a rinse under the tap as he's a little sludgy but nothing the tap won't rinse off. I don't think there is such thing as leaving them in for too long. I put metal models in acetone and then forget about them for a month sometimes and no modl has been damaged. I have not had a lot of experience in stripping plastics, teh odd few i have stripped in the acetone free remover i have left to soak for a couple of days and then checked on it and put back in if required.

Thats weird - I put my plastics in Acetone Free nail polish remover, and within half an hour little (finecast-style) holes began to appear in the thin bits. I got them out double-quick after that, but it litterally ate the plastic cut it was in.

Hmm that is weird - i've not had that happen but have only stripped a handfull of plastics. In that case i would test first on aa bit of sprue before putting a miniature in to the solution.

Sprue test first, gotcha.

Watch out there too - a lot of plastic bits on mini's are a lot thinner then on sprue, so if you have even a little bit of dettol I wouldn't do it.

i have been using dettol to stip pain off minis for ages, ive tried nail varnish too, but it hasnt worked anywhere near as well as dettol for me.
ill list my process.
1) put minis in straight dettol (the brown original antiseptic one)
2) leave them for a few hours
3) take them out and use pure fairy liquid or hand soap on a toothbrush and give it a good scrub, it will remove a lot of the paint.
Important not to use any water at this point as thats what make the black gloopy rubbery stuff.
When the model is nicely covered in a foamy lather rinse them under the tap, give them a shake and if needed pop them back into the dettol.
you can rinse the toothbrush with water but make sure it has plenty of soap on it when you use it again!
You may need to repeat, i just find its best to get the top layer off quickly to let the dettol attack the primer.
Also you can leave minis in it for months, i have and it has no affect on them.
Plastic and metal are fine, finecast i've done as well, with no problems, but i wouldnt like to guarantee it.

Where did you get a hold of it? Im also from the Netherlands but i dont think they sell it here, or is it under another name?
