So with the tale of X painters beginning and my selection of Moria and Durin's Folk I've been considering changing my Dwarf Army's colors.

The primary colors have been Green cloth, deep brown leather, grey accents (mid blues added for unique characters). With silver and gold armor.

My main quandary is simply that I don't want to match any of my other armies color schemes

Gondor - replaced black cloth with deep blue. Golden trimmed armor

Harad - Deep Purples, and blues. Some units have reds, yellows, oranges to accent the model

Mahud - Earthy reds and browns

Moria - Browns, greys and dark or rusty colored armor

Isengard - Dark metals, lots of tan leathers and olive drab cloth

Rohan - essentially the gw scheme with a little more red

Lorien - Forrest Greens, light silver armor, sky blue accents

High Elves - Deep blues and golds

Easterlings - GW scheme w black armored (silver trim) black dragons

Mordor - Greys, browns, reds, dark metals. All muted and dark

So as you can see I feel like I don't have a lot of good options to switch my Dwarves to lol

I refer to my dwarf army as the 'turquoise dwarves'. The paint scheme is dark metal with bronze trim, turquoise cloth and dark blue details. Really makes them stand out from any other force.

What about a mustard yellow for the cloth, a bit like Bifur and Bofur? Perhaps with orange or red details and dark leather or silver armour.

Or sparkly pink :P

I find a muted red works brilliantly for Dwarves, and it works well most metal types nicely, acting as a contrast with silver and complimenting gold and bronze. I used this colour scheme with my Grimhammer Dwarves and personally I think it's the best army I've produced. Here's my guide, apologies if you're not familiar with GW's new paint range but with some Googling you should be able to translate =

Base = Khorne Red + Gorthor Brown (1:1)
Wash = Agrax Earthshade
Layer = Khorne Red + Gorthor Brown (1:1)
Highlights = Khorne Red + Gorthor Brown + Karak Stone (1:1:1)
To define shadows = repeat the earlier wash in the necessary areas

I like the idea of deep reds or burgundies for the cloth with bright polished metals, steel or bronze, for the armor. With white, black and gold as accent colors for the cloth and banners.

Although you should have a look and the earth kingdom troops from the last air-bender cartoon and the metal clan uniforms from the legend of Korra. It is a very earthy style to it, light browns, greens of different shades with bright steel for some of the armor. Its nice but not extravagant. I have always thought those schemes would look lovely on a few lotr armies, dwarves in particular.
