Looking to see if there is a decent white paint out there. I've tried P3 and GW's white paint and it doesn't cover worth a flip. Takes a good ten coats to get it to cover, over a light gray basecoat too. Does anyone know of a decent white paint that will cover better? Thanks ahead of time, -Josh |

I find that GW's white paint isn't so bad. Are you trying to paint a white basecoat on a dark primer perhaps? In that case, it pays to lay down 1-2 layers of Codex Grey or Fortress Grey first. After that, you shouldn't need too many layers of Skull White. Of course, depending on what you are painting, priming white and then painting the parts that aren't supposed to be white in Chaos Black might be a valid alternative. |

I've found that Derivan Minis' white is pretty good for coverage. Comes in a much larger dropper bottle than most miniature paints for about the same price, too. Not nearly as available as other mini paints, though. Your best bet would be Art supply stores. http://www.derivan.com.au/pages/minis.html I've got a bunch of their paints, some are better than others. Their yellows have a good coverage, but are very matt. I use a mix of paint brands for different things. |

I just use GW's. Oddly enough, some pots of paint I purchase come too thin, others too thick, others just right. |

I find that too, my kommando khaki is way too thin out of the tub and some others barely jiggle when you give them a good shake!!! |

for white you need a build up. if its a black undercoat and its small things such as a shield or such simply a basecoat of scorched brown, then thinned layers of bleached bone to build up then layers of white to build up, it takes time but batch paint it. with finding thick or thin paints each one varies depending on the pigment colour etc as each colour is built up of pigments etc. theres no "right" colour just have to work each ones differently |
