but i dont know how i can paint saruman his cloak

Yo!

Saruman is usually seen with a white cloak... I would suggest some color progression of the sort:

Black undercoat -> slow progression from 50/50 mix of Black and Codex Grey to pure Codex Grey -> slow progression from 50/50 mix of Codex Grey and Fortress Grey to pure Fortress Grey -> slow progression from 50/50 mix of Fortress Grey and Skull White to pure Skull White highlight.

Add some Badab Black washes where you find useful...

This is just my opinion... I don't know what results it would yield. Remember that the color progression is yours, so don't hesitate to change things around to your liking.

For example, you could also dab the bottom of the cloak with a dark brown to simulate dirt...

i shal try but... i haven't got badab black so is black ink or watered down chaos black also good?

yes either of those should work too.

You could also start with a brown and work your way up to bleached bone and then up to pure white. It would give it a more ivory look. I did that for my saruman, check out my gallery to see the result.

Yeah, white is pretty hard to paint, especially since it's such a clean color and the shading needs to be light also. If you're making an Isengard army, you really shouldn't start with Saruman. You'll get progressively better as you'll paint, so you should really start with the lackies. I for one know that the Isengard Uruk-Hai pikemen and Swordsmen are really easy and fun to paint. They're also good drybrushing practice. I recommend you start there.

For reference, I know One-Ring has a few painting tutorials on painting them.

I agree with Noddwyr and go with a brown hue rather than grey, I just think it looks better.
My Saruman in my gallery was this colour. I think it started bestial Brown and kept adding Bleached Bone till pure, then added some Skull Whaite at the highest points.
If you are watering paints down to use as washes / glazes - make them thin, at least 1 part paint to 10 parts water.

If I look to your picture I think your paints were too tick you should add some water to the paint then the layer flow into each other.

Hero of Gondor - If you mean my Saruman then I totally agree, however in my defence I did paint this about 7 years ago and I would like to think i have improved since then.

Hey isengardlord,

I checked out the picture you posted of saruman in your gallery. It doesn't look too bad, although for future reference I don't think you should drybrush the cloak... I forgot to tell you that before, sorry Also, as you progress through the layers, there should be less and less of the color, meaning that the space between the creases on the back should be darker than what it is now (if that makes any sense...)

Not to purposely contradict you, but I wouldn't drybrush a cloak. On a cloak, one is aiming for a clean quality, and drybrushing is best reserved for the likes of hair, metal ,etc.

As such, a cloak is definitely much harder to paint, especially when it is white, since it requires highlighting and layering of colors.
