Black Guard of Barad-dur Command

I have just finished filling my dwarf army out nicely and have made huge strides in fielding my own Mordor Orc based army. I want to put in some Black Guard which have recently gone to finecast.

My question is what is the fourth guy in the commander set? Is he just a regular black guard? If so why is mordor getting ripped off when the other races/factions get hornblowers or a unique profile captain? Same price as the other command sets, why less content?

GW claims that it is a captain but the model looks just like a regular Black Guard.

Yeah I was afraid it was just a plain guy. If it was 2 captains w/ razor edge helms I'd have no qualms w/ the product. I think its kinda shady to put a reg guy in the box and call it something its not. I could just spend less get the regular black guard and make believe they are captains as well then. I see even less of a reason for the price hike on that commander box when compared to the other boxes available to the other races/factions.

Just gonna point out that the Gundabad warriors blister went up 100%. In metal it was £8.20 for 4, now it is £16 for 4. It's a joke (albeit not a funny one).

flipping tragic move from gw .. I hope they sell none and suffer a bad drop in sales .. personally I prefere the metal ones anyway, paying nearly double for a worse product ? .. no thanks not to mention you usually get an extra goblin as they are smaller !! .. your not even getting that !?

Im just glad I got 20 gundabads from a friend for £20 lol. No way I'll be buying any of the new finecase stuff. And it is a shame about the black guard command. I was hoping for some sort of black uruk shaman or something. To put a normal guy in... :-X

Actually the GW site doesnt even mention the 4th man. But from the pic we can assume it is a normal dude.
THought with the iron guard this was not true. The iron guard set on the pic has 2 poses but actually has 3.

They mention him. "This is a finely detailed resin cast kit, and contains eight components and a sprue of four 25mm round bases with which to make four Black Guard of Barad-dûr miniatures." Enough to make 4, they only describe the 3 in detail and make no mention of what the 4th guy is, but we have supplies to make him.... great!

I should have purchased my black guard sooner.... SIGH!

Here we actually see a working pressure to buy miniatures from GW... I have experienced the same, and have recently bought a lot of Lotr dwarves before the finecast replacements slammed down. :-X

They have rules for a black uruk shaman. If you can convert, then you could change the normal black guard from the pack into a shaman. Take away that shield, have him hold a staff or a severed head. Stuff like that.

that is only in WotR. I dont play it enough to warrant buying another command (which will be worse than my metal one) just to cut up one guy which I cant use in SBG.

I only play SBG as well. The extra guy will be nice. I just don't see why I have to pay the same amount for the command group when I am actually getting less command for my money then say if I were to buy the Dwarf Command or Rohan Command.

Oh, I thought you already had the pack.

However, you could easily use a black uruk shaman in sbg. Just give him the usual uruk hai shaman rules and just add the black guard bonuses, such as heavy armour, extra fight/strength/courage or whatever they have. Unless of course you play in tournaments.

I have the old 3 man (uruk? :roll:

) command. Could do, maybe if I encounter a spare one on ebay or something. I've been to 2 tournaments this year and am planning on at least 2 more before the end of the year. Hopefully more next year.

Isendard Uruk-hai now have the option for armour, so just do that and use it as a Mordor one
