Post subject:  Hasslefree Miniatures head sprues?

I'm looking for ways to make my conversions more characterful, mainly through head swaps. However I don't want to go down the route of buying entire models just to butcher them for individual pieces as I have done in the past. I'd prefer to use individual components such as head sprues.

I'm having trouble finding conversion sprues that are suitable for Lord of the Rings scale and theme (there are lots for Sci Fi, and larger scaler models like Warhammer). So far the best I've found are Hasslefree Miniatures' head sprues. HF has a good variety of heads, but I'm not sure how large they are.

Has anyone ever used HF, and are they suitable for Lord of the Rings? (specifically Warriors of Minas Tirith, Knights of Minas Tirith, Rangers of Middle Earth; as well as the models in the Minas Tirith Commanders set).

Also, there any other good bits out there that can be used in LotR conversions which don't require you to get entire models or kits?

I'm pretty sure gripping beast do a set of Knight's Helmets that could work for both Second Age Elves and Knights of Dol Amroth.

They also have these wounded heads that would suit Gondorians.

Ah yes those wounded heads might work (gotta do something with those mustaches though. :S) but in my experience Gripping Beast are slightly larger than LotR which might be a problem (I have a few Anglo Danish Huscarls). Thanks anyway, I'll definately check them out. I'm mainly looking for bare heads.

Batpan did a fantastic conversion using a head from the old LotR conversion sprue but sadly they're no longer readily available.

Okay, I've never actually bought gripping beast so excuse my naïveté.

And I wish my parents hadn't misplaced my old SBG stuff when I moved out - I had (Well, I hope I still have) most of the BGiME Sprue in my bitz box. If I ever find them I'll let you know!

I used the Goblin Head A sprue for some orcs...used one of the heads on my Barrow Wight conversion that was right in scale with the model, so I would think it would be safe to get others from Hasslefree.

Yes it does, cheers. :D

I've just had an awesome idea...I was looking at Ebay and found several metal models listed as "damaged", due to them missing heads and/or limbs (clearly used for conversions). I can get several of them (only 99p each), stick on a Hasslefree head and create an entirely new model. :D

Love to see you do this...great and cheap way to expand your armies! :)
