Turin and the Outlaws?

hey all, im thinking of doing a small force based on Turin and his Outlaws from the book 'The Children Of Hurin'.

I was thinking of using some lightly converted Rangers models for the Outlaws, and Duinhir with a bit of conversion work for Beleg Cuthalion, but im struggling for what model to base my Turin on.

I dont know if anyone on here has done this, or if youve got any ideas, but please share any thoughts/ideas =]

This is something I have thought about a lot as Turin is one of my favourite characters. I have not been able to decide on a conversion as yet so am interested in any suggestions this thread may have to offer.

My first thought was using Cirion as a base, and using Green stuff to model the Dragon Helm but ive gone off that idea.

Yeh tht could work tho imo Cirion is not errrrrm whats the word........formidable enough.

Not much help but I'm thinking of having a scratch sculpt done for Turin. I've racked my brains for long time to find a conversion idea but yeh I'm stumped too

never thought of a scratch sculpt, im not sure my skills are up to the job to be honest with you =P We'll see what they bring out for 'the Hobbit' maybe a jewel will turn up from that?

Yes of course something may well come up that is well suited from the new range. My skills with putty are not up to it either but a simple private message to the One Rings resident sculptor Mr Ukfreddybear should do the trick

If you still want a conversion - how about Aragorn or Boromir?

I've just ordered it to use it as Túrin, as I needed some horses from Magister Militum anyway. I believe the shield is supplied loose:

It certainly fits my idea of Túrin, the armour looks like the one of the book cover and it's damn cheap!

The one on foot looks like a sweet model, but the scale looks off?

Is he head to toe in chainmail? Thats easy enough to do, albeit a little labour intensive. I've been known to dabble with the putty.

I didnt think he was at the 'outlaw' stage, but theres a lack of images so artistic licence could come into play.

I don't really know, but a lot of the GW figures don't scale up well to each other either. I'll post a comparison pic when it arrives.

That model is indeed a good fit, but purely as a model it does not impress me - a very "wooden" pose, a weird head and that horse has got it's front leg bones melted or something...

Still a good find.

The figure arrived today and as promised, here is a comparison picture:

However, do note that I cut off the little metal slab that it was standing on, otherwise it would have been way too tall.
