Hey guys, I know this has been asked god knows how many times, but I'm enquiring incase there's any new products/methods people have discovered. Just bought a large lot of metal and plastic from ebay, and it'll probably need stripping. If its just something that'll do metal but will melt plastic that's fine aswell cos I'll just leave the plastics. I've put UK based as I know Simple Green is mentioned a lot but we British can't get it (apart from paying a bomb for postage on ebay). Cheers. |

Use fairy power spray, works on metal plastic a forgeworld resin. Either dunk them and leave for an hour and scrub with a brush. Iv left plastic in for 48 hours with no melting ect. 3.50 in tesco |

Thank you very much. I will get some next time I'm shopping? Any bad smells/fumes from it? |

You might want to change the title of the thread to include the word 'paint', just to avoid any confusion |

"Simple Green" is close to the same product as Dettol. I used to use Dettol, but it leave an unholy mess. Now I use Fairy Power Spray, although I must confess, the results I've had with plastic so far are ok, but not great. I wonder if there's a diffrent method which would get better results... |

Couldn't find any Fairy Power Spray, so I'm trying Cif atm. Will leave it a day or so and report back. |

I am not one of the Seven Dwarves. Or Thorin's Company. But I am quite cheerful if that helps I have never stripped paint off any minis so I bow to the superior knowledge and experience of others. |

I've heard brown Dettol is very good. I tend to use Simple Green instead, though. Both being available in AU. |

I have posted about this in other threads dotted around the One Ring. 1. Fairy Power spray. I found works nice and a bonus is can be used on just one model at a time, and doesn't take too long. Squirt, leave for 20, and scrub. For bulk spraying is a little more costly and time consuming. 2. NON-Acetone nail varnish remover. This was recommended to me by a commercial reseller. They buy minis (mostly 40K) strip and then flog on eBay. This works on plastics, resin, metals. Bung 'em in the pot, leave for 20 (like fairy power spray) and a light scrub with a toothbrush. It's cheaper than Fairy power spray and a heck of a lot less messy than the Dettol Dip method. (just don't leave plastics in it for more than 4 -8 hours. It works quickly, and won't affect plastics unless you forget about them.....) |

I always use the standard brown dettol and it works a treat, you can also leave them in there for a while to no ill effect (metal at least). |

Holy Devlan Mud, Daersalon I went and bought acetone free nail polish remover... Put 2 plastics in, checked about 2 hours later and you're right, all the paint had gone, didn't even need to brush it off. I'm gonna look like a wierdo going back and buying 3 bottles of the stuff tomorrow, but they don't know I've got a whole army to strip. For anyone in the UK (or wherever else there are Superdrugs) this is the thing you want. http://www.superdrug.com/superdrug/supe ... rce=179_75 |
