I've had a bit of a problem with the little devil not staying on his base. I've been using superglue to stick the transparent rod into the base of the beast but he's been invariably snapping off. Should I be using plastic glue (not sure if the transparent plastic is the right polymer) or just more superglue? Cheers.

You could try a sticky joint. Put greenstuff into the hole and before it hardens superglue the stand into place.

I've seen a lot of 40K and X-wing players moving to a ball bearing on top of the flight stand. You could use a larger diameter brass rod to give the ball bearing a good seating and then put a magnet in the base of the Fell Beast. It's easily removable and you can pose the mini by altering the angle that it sits on the magnet.
