Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could give any tips please? I've got some haradrim raiders & i'm trying to learn how to convert the horses into zebra / wild horse type models The stiff 'brush' manes these horses posess seem quite straightforward, but i'm struggling with the tails big time... I can't quite seem to 'nail' the appearance of the 'exposed' type tails they have. If anyone could give any tips it would be greatly appreciated, thanks! |

Not a clue on how to help, but would love to see what you came up with in the end. |

Zebra tails are very different than horse tails. Once the horses are assembled, I would remove the existing tails completely then replace them with wire and fashion a tuft at the end of the wire with GS. Good luck! |

Good luck! tell me about it, lol i've tried lots of variations but can't quite seem to hit the mark? ive got some paperclips / brass rod to use as a 'skeleton' guide, but it's sculpting the hair at the end that's giving me the grief. When i do eventually manage it, i'll post some pix & see what u think? |

For the tuft, I would fashion into the wire a small ball of gs and then use a hobby knife with a dab of Vaseline to stroke it into place. The hobby knife has a very fine blade which you'll need to achieve the hair look. |

thanks for the tips ; i've already removed the tails & manes and used the brass rod as an armature ; i'm hoping to have them done within the next week (work & kids notwithstanding, lol!) |

I know how that goes. For the base of the tail, i wouldnt worry about bending it into place. Instead butt it up next to the horses, well, butt and just use more gs to smooth out the transition from rump to tail. Food for thought. |

great find, thanks! Tbh i've not got much further at the mo, shift work is a pain & the kids keep me busy too... on the plus side, my eldest girls (9 & 4) seem to be taking an interest in painting / sculpting so I might hand this over to them, hehe! |

I feel your pain brother, I also work shifts & most my free time is with my little family. Have to grab our hobby time as and when we can. That's really lovely that they are talking an interest. Hope it rubs off on mine too when she's older. |
