Post subject:  Looking for non-GW models that are the same scale. (For RP)

Now I have been running a dungeons and dragons campaign for a couple months and I've gotten to the point now where i'd like to start using miniatures to represent more complex combat involvements. The last time I was a GM I was playing FFGS 40k RPG's so it was really convenient as I have a large number for 40k models to use. I was planning on using my Lotr collection as a base for D&D for two main reasons.

A) I have quite a large number of lord of the rings Miniatures and both have alot of cross over due to similar settings, lots of orcs, goblins, elves, dwarfs, humans, monsters ect.
B) The smaller scale compared other miniatures will mean creating larger scale maps will be much easier, plus I have recently got some mantic doors off ebay and they are too small for GW's current fantasy range of models.

So basically I was wondering if you lovely people could recommend some companies and ranges that I could pick up models for that will scale well with the LotR BSG, anything and everything would be greatly appreciated. I know there is already a kinda similar thread but that really is focused on looking for different kinds of substitutes, Looking for stuff replace units rather then individuals mostly. If you follow my reasoning.

Thanks in advance.
Rain

Thanks alot mate I'll definetly check them out, I did find a couple good brands looking at the generic alternative model thread but i'm yet to find somthing suitable for my partners Tiefling character and I'm starting to worry we are gonna have to proxy a Daemonnette of slannesh for the time being!

I'd recommend the following:
- Northstar (check out Frostgrave and their upcoming Fantasy range with Tolkien-ish Dwarves!)
- Reaper Miniatures (lots of miniatures for Pathfinder)
- Perry Miniatures
- Conquest Games
- Crusader Miniatures
- Copplestone Miniatures
- Midlam Miniatures
- Musketeer Miniatures
- Otherworld Miniaturs (lots of classical RPG miniatures)
- Gamezone Miniatures
- Hasslefree Miniatures
- Red Box Games

That should give you some options. :) The above have either a fantasy range or have fitting historical ranges. The scales may differ here and there, but not much more than in the GW miniatures.

Check this out. They are Fireforge and Conquest plastics that I converted into LOTR units. You can interchange heads arms and weapons with plastic GW figures and make all kinds of cool stuff.

Search my name for conversion pix made fro Fireforge Templars and Conquest Normans.

Oh, you're looking for a triefling, then check out reaper and dark sword. Their scale is a bit larger but usable for rpg. You can also check out official dnd prepaints. Wizkids also now makes a unpainted plastic line of minis
