I'm planning on taking a 750pts Moria force to my first tournament. I'm not planning on being super competitive, and would rather take a fun list, but at the same time i'd like it to be able to hold its own and not be a walkover.

I recently picked up The Watcher in the Water, and would love to take it, so i'm trying to build a decent list around it.

Here is what i've decided on thus far;

Warband 1
Watcher in the Water

Warband 2
Groblog
Warg Marauder (x4)
Dweller in the Dark

Warband 3
Moria Goblin Shaman
Moria Goblin Prowler w/ Shield (x6)
Moria Goblin Warrior w/ Spear (x5)

Warband 4
Moria Goblin Shaman
Moria Goblin Prowler w/ Shield (x5)
Moria Goblin Warrior w/ Spear (x5)

My theory is that the watcher can be a menacing disruptive unit, either emerging in the fray to kill troops or even drag out spear supports. It can also be a good leader-killer, popping up next to him and using his single might to heroic strike.

The marauders are great, and perform brilliantly whenever I use them. The only real question is whether I should take more or less of them?

The Dweller is one i'm unsure of. It's a formidable monster, able to deal out special strikes, self-heal, and has high fight making it my only real hero-killer besides the watcher. The squishiness makes it a liability though, even when blocked from shooting by the wargs. I do love the model, and would like to take it, but still on the fence.

Groblog is great for his 3 might, or 5 if you count the two he saves the Shamans. His ability also means I have two free will for a 5+ chance at some transfixes.

The prowlers mean I can equal most armies fight values, and potentially get one or two throwing dagger kills.

I plan on running some practice games beforehand, and as always, any C&C is greatly appreciated.

An interesting list.

I would not take the watcher. He is to much for being such a slow model. He also takes away a lot from your model count. You could get another dweller and more goblins/warg marauders for the price of the watcher which I think in my opinion would be better.

I quite like the marauders. I think they are a good unit.

However if you like the list you should try it out. It might be fun to try out.

In some senarios like Reconoitre and high ground, taking a solo strong monstrous model like watcher and dragon (alongside with many cheap ones to maintain numbers) is the ideal option so if you know the senario you can act accordingly.

But Moria's main problem is speed and flexibility so maybe an even better option is some fast models like Marauders (ugly model but excellent in armies) or wargs or even spiders.

The Watcher is an absolute must! Can "deep strike" anywhere and with his ability to pull enemies into combat so he basically has a move of 10"
