I'm working on sevral different good forces, but since i cant settle on which to paint first i thought i'd write a list with all three.

Eomer, Marshal of the Riddermark w/ Horse and Shield
12 Riders of Rohan

Forlong the Fat
12 Axemen of Lossanarch

Halbarad Dunedan
Ranger of the North
Ranger of the North w/ Spear
2 Rangers of Arnor
6 Rangers of Arnor w/ Spear

The idea as that Forlong and the gang will be the main fighting block, all count as having a spear, 2 handed axe and single handed dagger so they are very versatile. Eomer and his Riders will outflank, skirmish with their bows and charge to support the axemen. the Rangers will advance and shoot for as long as possible, and charge in, or provide spear support when they're needed.

A total of 23 bows, a tonne of spears and 11 might points. I realise Erkenbrand with Redshields would probably be a better option, but I don't have the model, currently can't afford it, and it wouldn't be as fluffy :)

I'm hoping the low fight value of the Riders will be mitigated by the rest of the army being f4, if i choose my charges well i should be able to get some back up in combat.

Advice on tactics, or changes all welcome! Thanks!

I'd consider losing a couple of riders to find room for a banner but also because one hero leading 12 cavalry makes it hard to get them all into a heroic move/march ect unless you're playing very shooty.

Foot knights of Dol-amroth may serve better instead of Axemen as the front rank due to the high defence, however Forlong is a solid choice and I can appreciate some axemen with him is only right and proper :)

If I ever get the chance I want to try an all cavalry Pellenor army so let me know how this one goes :)
I think from all the factions from Pellenor there's a lot of room to combine the strengths of the participating forces :)

I had considered dropping some riders, but hadn't though of a banner. Would it be best on a Rider or an Axeman?

Utilising a banner depends very much on your play style.

If you give it to your infantry its definitely in a place to do a lot of good, it keeps most of your fights covered and a re-roll of FV4 is pretty good.
if you give it to your cavalry you give them a get out of jail free card when they lose prioirty, ok so they're still quite vulnerable but it means they have two rolls of a die to win the fight which is much better than one.

The ideal situation is to engage with the infantry and have the cavalry in range of the banner when they engage.

Interesting, If i give a banner to an Axeman, doea he still technically have his pole-axe? thus allowing him to fight with a spear? coulp prove handy. I'll have think and play around with some subtle changes to the list.

I could drop 3 riders and have points for Knight of the Pelenor, for example.

Ultimately its your call on which units will suit you best :)
Knight of the pellanor is a power house in combat and comes with extra will for resisting those damned magic casters.
Marshall of the mark is a more cost effective option but likewise you get less for the reduced cost (also theme wise I see Eomer as marshal at the start of Pellenor and as the knight by the end of it so I consider both acceptable lol)

I'd try squeeze in Eowyn and split your riders into two groups.

I love seeing the shield maid in the Rohan line-up.

I took Eowyn to the last stockport event and she did not disappoint.
Despite having one wound she survived in most of my games and even managed some impressive kills and heroic actions.
Cheap and effective in my opinion, just don't rely on her taking out a combat monster (unless its a fellbeast lol)
