For a long time i have thought of making a fiefdoms army. I was about to start when i saw the new releases. I saw Mauhur and his command guys and was inspired to make an army of the isengard raiders. now i can´t decide should i go for the fiefdoms or isengard?

Depends of what armies you allready have and the amount of money you like to spend.

Fiefdoms is expensive, really expensive because most of the men are metal.

Isengard is.. well most plastic and they have crossbows.

Fiefdoms are less on the tables and much cooler looking than Isengard. Add to that that they are getting plastic KoDA and it's a very easy choice in my opinion.

A difficult choice: they're both elite armies, Fiefdoms probably has the better cavalry but Isengard has better archers.

In my honest opinion, I think Isengard is better. Mostly because they can smash the pulp out of defence 6 troops like Gondorians and 6s are required to kill them most of the time and they have higher fight than most troops and they have crossbows which pwn. Although Isengard dosen't have any uber heroes except Saruman and I agree with General Elessar (for once) they don't have nearly as good cavalry but they definetely have the better base troops (arguably the best in the game).

Both sets are pretty elite troops, it depends if you are going for isenguard scouts, or fighting uruk-hai, both are totally different. In my opinion scouts are great models, not too pwerful so cheap enough to include in large numbers, and in my opinion are generaly more characterful. I don't like fighting uruks full stop, not only because of their lack of plastic range troops. It depends if you like hordes or elites, if elites, get fiefdoms, enough said.

Difficult choice but this depents if you are a evil or good fan cause the armys have a very similiar playstyle but isengard have a much greater choice of troops.

Some good's and bads of both armys:

Isengard: Strong troops with a wide selections of troops for every situation beserkers for elite, uruk hai for troops and orcs for extra troops.
The army don't have any strong fighting heroes but saruman and grima can make life difficult for enemy heros. They also have crossbows wich can make a difference against defence 6. For isengard I recommend to get much orcs with spear and not very much uruks with pike they are only usefull for limited situations cause if you fight in a full phanalx you troops get trapped.

Fiefdoms: Ah my favourite not only because they look cool but they are also extremely usefull on the field. they have imrahil wich is a very good killing machine on a horse and a lance. They also have rangers with spear wich is very usefull as spear support because they don't have to fight they give spear support and they shoot. It is also important for a fiefdoms army to have calvary there calvary is very usefull but hard to use. And also use never banners in a fiefdoms army Imrahil can banner support al skoda and angbor and the fearless al clansman of Lamedon.

hope this helps and if you have any questions about fiefdoms just ask.

I would go with the fiefdoms if for no other reason just because the models are cool looking and the troops are characterful in my opinion. And I'm also a fan of Prince Imrahil.

Well it pretty much comes down to what you prefer yourself, cause in LOTR SBG every army is strong on its own (with a few exceptions e.g Hobbits, and Sharkeys Rouge)

but as noted above Fiefdmes do cost more...considerably more and if you don´t have that much money go with the latter one, but in my opinion Isengard is so commonly used army, its quite a rare sight to see Fiefdoms army on the table

I agree that money wise, I'd lean towards Isengard over the Fiefdoms. However, if you have the time and money you could make a very unique and effective force with the Fiefdoms. :)

Hobbits are not an effective force on their own? You are joking, right? The Shire list is generally regarded as one of the best in the game, they can be a real power house and a tournament winner. The only thing that stops them from being taken all the time is the cost, which is nearly prohibitive.

I was lucky to buy some miniatures 2nd handed.
And I have around the 15 Dol amroth knights since the beginning, when they where a lot cheaper ;)

Try searching on ebay or another 2nd hand website.

Yes, Ebay can often give good results.

Yeah.. make a whole army of Dol Amroth Knights...
I just gave myself a huge idea ;)

To get back on the topic, the most people agree with a fiefdom army, but you have to be ready to spend a whole lot of money, so keep that in mind.

Isengard is played by a lot of people, it's quite easy to paint and cheaper then a fiefdom army.

So the choice is yours ;)

ps: I'll try to make a picture of my fiefdom army, it's quite big now :)
