Post subject:  1000pt Gondor Army Suggestions

I've been collecting a gondor army for a year now but i never really used it in a game, i ve been more of a collector than a player untill this point, so id be open to any suggestions of what to buy next to add to the force or what to replace because i do want to start playing

Bormir, Captian of White Tower, banner, horse
Denethor
3 Captians of MT w/ shield
6 Fountian Guards
20 warriors of MT w/ shield
24 warriors of MT w/ shield & w/ Spears
24 warriors of MT, w/ bows

This list comes out roughly to 1000 pts

Some cavalry would be good. Maybe some rangers as well?

avenger bolt thrower? have no experience with it but as far as i know they are really good

ya, cavelry is the thing that you REALLY need, as mobility is so important

switch out a captain for faramir, madril or cirion (last 2 are more prefable cause of there points), then take some osgiliath vets

allying in the grey company will help, but i would still take a few warriors with bows(for the defense 5 against enemy bows) to help protect the squishier rangers. or you can have one of your captians be from the minis tirith army list and have all you warriors come from that list so you can take the rangers instead of warrors w/ bow (but the extra might and standfast from the rangers of the north is really usefull)

you can switch out a captian for one of the fiefdoms heros (forlong the fat, angbor the fearless) and take a few of their warrors as they're really useful

so there are some of the many options that you have, what you pick is up to your battleplan/ theme ect.... although i would recomend getting cavalry and some elites (osgiliath vets, any of the fiefdoms warriors.... ect... )

Aragorn is very good, but he's only worth the points if you're playing a 600pts+ game.

Faramir's good for small games, less than 500pts.

Prince Imrahil is especially good if you include Knights of Dol Amroth in your army (he counts as a banner with a range of 12in for Knights of Dol Amroth). He can also kill almost any evil hero with his Fight 6.

Cirion is a good alternative to a Captain; he only costs a few points more and has an extra Might.

No. That said, I haven't ever actually used one. I expect it would be useful in big games (over 800pts).

Perhaps you guys should get back on topic, as you guys really went off topic there.

As for the list, perhaps you should add some Knights of Minas Tirith to make a calvary contingent? Seems like it could be a useful addition to your army. :)

Yeah...I like your posts when they have content, but a lot have been of the "me too!" variety...or sniping between you and someone else (of course, it takes 2 to play that game). Just filter those and everyone will be happier. :)
