Hey ya'll thanks for the help so far, this list is mainly a list of what i have and what i can get fairly simply, while still being comptative. The idea is to run Aragorn and Faramir in the cavalry units, then falling aragorn back to the GC when they engage in CC.

Aragorn - 200pts.
Faramir - 90pts.

Commons

3x Companies of Rangers of Arnor - 90pts.
3x Companies of Rangers of Arnor -90pts.
4x Knights of Minas Tirith -120pts.
4x Knights of Minas Tirith - 120pts.

Legendary

4x Grey Company - 285pts.
-Banner of the King

Total: 995pts.

I orginally had banners in each of the knight unit and had 25pts. left over. I then decided on dropping the banners and adding Faramir who will more then pay for his points while continue wrecking face in Close Combat.

At 1500 pts. I'm using an identical list except adding Legolas and Gimili as allies. Then buffing each knight unit to 6 companies strong each. Legolas can then take down big scaries, while Gimili rages in the Grey Company who he can babysit. ANother option is splitting the cavalry into 3 formations of 4 companys instead of two giant units. I think the overall combined strength of the three heros in amazing but i'm curios to what the community thinks.

Looks like a solid defensive force, however I'm not too keen on having Aragorn in 1k army. 1500pts sure, he's great, but in 1k he's alone taking 1/5 of your points, which could be spent better for 4 captains IMO -> because at this point level you won't see many things that can wreack havock in duels anyway, so Captains look like a safe bet. 8 Might over 3+1 might also be more helpful.

However, if that's the theme of your force and you want Aragorn then I think it's as solid as you can get it to be. I would perhaps change one formation of Rangers into a formation of WoMT for a more solid infantry body of the force - Rangers are really fragile in combat.

The only problem with your suggested changes is that Rangers can't have Captains as an upgrade. Sure the Knights can, but a captain is going to get chewed in close combat by just about anyone.

I would bump up the two(4x companies) formations of riders to six, so that it will be stronger.

I'd drop the Grey Company to three companies, for one simple reason. By doing so, if Aragorn calls an Epic Journey with them it will cost two Might instead of four. I've done this several times and have found it really effective.
