So I have a decent sized collection of Thunderbolt Mountain wood elves that I intend to field as Galadhrim as they are light armored. Along those lines, I was thinking the following for 500 points:

-Rumil 70 pts
-Legolas. Elven Cloak. 100 pts
-22 Galadhrim Warriors. Elf Spear/Shield 220 pts
-11 Wood Elf Warriors. Elf Bow/Elf Spear 110 pts

6 might, 35 models, break after 17.

Rumil can anchor the line nicely, wood elves can be used as support, or as a "flying wing" with Legolas to hunt/melt into forest. Plus I'd think 35 elves in good order would be rather intimidating.

Now, I'm pretty new at this, any glaring weaknesses here? Also, what would be good additions going up to 700? I have some calvary models, plus some heavier armored foot ones I could model as Guards. Any input on current and possible future forces greatly appreciated!

Seems like a pretty solid list. Jumping up to 700 points you might consider some Sentinels, cavalry and/or Guards

Regarding adding Knights, should I aim for the shoot and scoot method, maybe adding a mounted hero of some sort? Or just a small hammer/fire extinguisher force?

Also, if I wanted to bring a sentinel, I would need to bring at least 2 wood elf warriors from Mirkwood, correct?

I haven't had a chance to use the knights yet, but the shoot and scoot is what I like about Rohan. They have the same expert rider rule, which means if you give them shields they benefit from the +1D even if they're using bows.

For the Sentinels, yes, you'd have to bring along some regulars. I'd give them spear and throwing daggers. Personally I like using 2 or 3 Sentinels (in 500-700 points) to increase the odds of bringing a troll or hero into throwing dagger range.

I would keep Legolas with the archers as a singled-out hero is easily disposed of. As whafrog stated, Sentinels are insanely useful and I never play wood elves without at least 2.

So, moving up to 700pts:

Lothlorien

Galadriel- 130pts
Rumil - 70pts
19 Galadhrim Warrior Shield/Spear - 190pts
1 Galadhrim Warrior Spear - 9pts
1 Guard of the Court - 24pts

31% bows

Thranduil's Halls

Legolas with Elven Cloak - 100 pts
4 Wood Elf Warriors with Spears - 32 pts
2 Wood Elf Sentinels - 50 pts

33% bows

Totals: 40 units, 9 might, break at 20.

Downside I can see here is a lack of rapid mobility, but the long distance bows should do a decent job I'd think. Or I could drop Galadriel for more troops and a lesser hero, maybe work some knights in that way.

Looks like a few things are missing from your Lothlorien list...?

Too many heroes IMHO...you need Legolas for the Sentinels, but two named heroes is plenty for elves at 700 points.

Whoops, yeah, missed the 10 wood elves with bows. Hmm, would you keep rumil in as a combat hero, or keep Galadriel and fill out the ranks?

With Rumil-

11 welfs with bows/spears
22 galadhrim spears/shields
4 knights shields/swords
2 Guards

Legolas

5 welvs spears/throwing daggers
2 sentinels

Exactly 700, 6 might, 48 models

With the Lady

11 welfs bows/spears
22 galadhrim spears/shields
2 guards

Legolas
6 welvs spears/daggers
2 sentinels

694 total, 45 models, 6 might

As I'm rather new to this, don't know if the lady or rumil and knights would be a more well rounded force. Also, thanks very much for all the feedback whafrog, greatly appreciated!

They both look like good lists to me, at this point it's more a matter of personal preference and flavour. First list seems more flexible and offense oriented. I think you have enough points left over in the second list to upgrade three regular spear+shield warriors to Guards, making it a very solid defense force, especially with Galadriel's Blinding Light.
