Post subject: | 1000pt rivendell army |
hi guys new to the forum and was hoping you could help me out. my gaming group has got a large tournament coming up and i was looking for some help on picking an army, what i have come up with so far is - Glorfindel Lord Of The West (Foot) - Erestor - 1 Elf Captain -Heavy Armour, Shield - 1 Elf Warrior - Heavy Armour Banner - 15 Elf Warriors - Heavy Armour, Spear, Shield - 15 Elf Warriors - Heavy Armour, Elf Bow - 20 Elf Warriors - Heavy Armour 54 models - 6 Might - 869pts Looking for advice on what to spend the remaining 131pts on because i am not sure whether to get another captain or bulk it up with elves |

I think you'd be much better off with the monkey twins instead of Erestor and the basic captain for about the same points. Give them bows and armour. Throw in Arwen with an elven cloak, because Nature's Wrath is incredibly useful if timed right, then max your numbers. Max your bows too, since everyone else will probably be able to hit the 75 model limit, and you'll need to do some major whittling. One thing you might be missing is some elven blades. If Glorfindel's fighting a troll and you can give him some help, having a couple of blades in the mix can make a big difference to the wounding chances. |

how about - Glorfindel Lord Of The West - Elladan & Elrorhir - Heavy Armour, Elf Bows - Erestor - 1 Elf Warrior - Heavy Armour, Banner - 18 Elf Warriors - Heavy Armour, Elf Bow - 16 Elf Warriors - Heavy Armour, Spear, Shield - 16 Elf Warriors - Heavy Armour - 5 Elf Warriors - Heavy Armour, Elven Blade 60 Models - 20 Bows - 10 Might - 998pts I've put the monkey twins in and bulked up the numbers a bit, Erestor has stayed because i really like both the rules and the model for him. While i agree natures wrath is an incredibly useful power, i don't see arwen fitting in with the army, through a theme perspective. |

For a To the Death match, I'd say you'd do pretty well. If you have the models, spending those last two points on blades might be worth it. Do you know what scenarios you'll be facing? |

I would get rid of Erestor myself. Maybe ally in some cavalry? |

ya, cavalry would be a great addition and i totally think that you need to switch erestor for a stormcaller, but that depends on how you use him as 'sap will' will ruin your day... id like to see gandalf in there but i dont see how |
