Hi guys, this is an army I've been working on (tournament sized). What do you think?

Grimbold - 50
4 Riders of Rohan - 52
8 Warriors of Rohan (bow) - 56
16 Helmingas (shield) - 128

Haldir, Defender of Helms Deep - 70
8 Galadhrim warriors with Elven blade - 72
8 Galadhrim warriors with spear - 72

This gives me 44 warriors, 2 heroes, and 5 might. I was thinking that they'd be effective as a more 'ambush' styled army. The helmingas are teamed up with the elves and rather than going head to head, they flank, and the mix of high fight and high strength knocks out stragglers. The archers and Riders would act as distractions to make their army vulnerable.

Looks solid. The S4 will defo help. You defo need some archers in there. Swap out 2 of the elves with swords and 2 with spears for 5 wood elves with just bows.

I'd swap Haldir for a Captain; you've got enough Might and you'll be able to squeeze another model in.

spuds is right about elf archers, they are better and more powerful, it would be a shame not to include them.

I'd say you're not really optimizing your troops. Only 1 of the 4 riders can use their bows. You have no throwing weapons. And half your close-combat troops have no shields.

You might consider converting all your WoR bowmen to Riders. This will give you 8 RoR total, all of whom can shoot, are relatively well-protected, and still decent on a charge. Instead of 16 elves take 14: 4 WE with bow + spear, 5 WE with spear + throwing dagger, and 5 Galadhrim with shield + spear. Any remaining points give throwing spears to the Helmingas.

Just some $0.02 thoughts...

Ok then, new idea. This army packs more punch, but at the loss of some flexibility.

Eomer with horse and shield - 90
8 Rohan Outriders, mounted - 120
7 Rohan Outriders - 70
8 Riders of Rohan (bows usable) - 104
16 Warriors of Rohan, shield - 112

This army has a few bonuses, in that I have a large amount of bows, and am mobile, and have a decent amount of numbers. However I now lack might points, will be vulnerable to bowfire, and don't have the elvish high fight or the helminga's strength 4. However the riders will make up for that partially in combat

i liked the first list more, this one will really pay for not having enough might, and i am all for having lots of throwing weapons, in fact i reckon that you should drop 2-3 guys to give them all throwing weapons

Like Shadowswarm, I prefer the first list.
