One of my friend is a big powergamer, he plays 40k, but plays on vassel (doesnt own any models) he just looks at the best shooty army and uses them (he plays tau, eldar, Imperial guard) now he want to try WotR, he asked for the most efficient shooty unit and i said ruffians His idea is to take as many ruffians as possible and shoot the enemy to death so here is my first list to try it out: thrydan 6formations of 9c of ruffians 29 formations of 3c of ruffians 4c ruffians (i know it needs some heros, but im rushing to write tthis, i have to go to work so please improve the army) would this be viable? could this shoot you to death in a few turns? or is there a better army to do this with (ie, should I try mass xbows?) now this would be interesting, if its field of swords, he could lose cause all his guys are weak and he'll lose alot of guys that way in the objective matches, if he can get one of the big units to stand infront of the unit holding the obj then he could have a chance king of the hill would be interesting, cause he has so many bows, you could be driven off the hill due to his shooting, but unless he can get 2 of his big units on it, he could be pushed away.... pls comment/ critique |

ruffians are rare so you need some common units unless youre ignoring that? |

if you do ignore that, youre army is good, if you dont just put in some orcs to even it up |

How about Corsair Arbalesters and Haradrim Archers with the Betrayer? |

Shadowswarm, I definitely agree that the ruffians are a great deal... held back only by the fact that you have to field all of them as metal rare figs. So is that the intention, or do you have alternatives in mind? I know it cuts agains the theory of the army, but Saruman (or since you want something 'hard', an allied Druzhag) would add Shatter Shields and Dark fury, both of which will come in very handy here. |

here is a list i made, i just forgot to post it suladan betrayer 1c haradrim archers 1c haradrim archers 1c haradrim archers 1c haradrim archers 3c haradrim archers 3c haradrim archers 3c haradrim archers 3c corsair arbalesters 3c corsair arbalesters 3c corsair arbalesters 1c mordor siege bow 1c mordor siege bow Mumakil Mumakil 1490pts, 7 commons, 7 rares, 13common comp, 13 rare comp, 3 lvls of magic this seems to be much better, I shoot them to pieces, and when they come too close i squish them. having so many little squads helps alot against anything that gets behind my lines, they are small and maneuverable so i can get them where ever they are (and if they are too tough all the little formations slow them down alot) balefire arrow would be good if i could stuff them in somewhere, with that and the betrayer you could push away big scary units comments/ critique/ thoughts? |

I'd put some of the one company Haradrim formations together. They're going to die really easily. |

ya they will die easily, obviously i would put them together to improve effectiveness, but they have to be split so i can get more rare choices |
