Hey guys Haven't posted on here for a while, but i've recently got back into LOTR again so I though I'd re-jig my various lists... here's my Isengard one - enjoy Captain w/ Heavy Armour - 55 8 Swordsmen w/ shields - 80 16 Pikemen w/ pikes (obviously...) - 160 All that comes in at 295. A few questions 1) Where, if any, is there room for improvement? 2) Would Crossbows go amiss? If they're needed, then what can be substituted to get 6? One little thing to note... due to my odd numbers of pikemen that I own, if you edit their numbers please keep their numbers in multiples of four? Reason being I like to rank 'em up in Phalanxes, and I only have 8 guys with pikes pointing downward - silly I know, but hey... should make things interesting for you guys Cheers |

First quick point would be to get the captain a shield as you have enough spare points. Second I'd use more shielded Uruks than pikes, at minimum 12 of each, if not 16 and 8 (if you're set on 4s) then you can shield on the flanks and push through the centre with your pike supported models. |

Hmmm, How about this revised list? Captain w/ Heavy Armour - 55 8 Swordsmen w/ shields - 80 12 Pikemen w/ pikes - 120 4 Crossbowmen - 44 All that comes in at 299. I've thinned out the number of pikes, and added some ranged fire-power. One quick thing though, is four crossbowmen really enough to make an impact? or would they be best suited to shooting priority targets, such as captains, banners, and high defense guys guarding enemy fire-power? -Oh, one last thing to note, I only play games with my friend(s), and the guy I fight does Gondor/Fiefdoms..., so Don't worry about the list's ability to perform against say... swarms of orcs |

I would say that something like this would work better: Captain w/ Heavy Armour and shield - 60 8 Swordsmen w/ shields - 80 4 Pikemen w/ pikes - 40 6 Crossbowmen - 66 9 Orcs w/ spear - 54 300 points. 2 might, 28 units. You can have very tough front line, still get much needed spear support and can place the pikes more strategically to break his lines. You could alternatively take out a 4 orcs and get a couple more crossbows, which is what i would do but that is more a playing style thing. OR: Captain w/ Heavy Armour and shield - 60 8 Swordsmen w/ shields - 80 4 Pikemen w/ pikes - 40 4 Beserkers - 60 10 Orcs w/ spear - 60 300 points. 2 might, 27 units. This one is more offensive but the beserkers are always fun to play. |
