Hey all, how are you?
Just going off to start my Easterling army, any ideas on what to get?

Im thinking using a Mordor troll, give him gold armour and say its an Easterling Troll gifted to the Easterlings from Mordor?!

So I will accept any suggestions!

If wanted, feel free to use my Troll idea too!

Even though the base troops are plastic, easterlings can get expensive because to really shine they need to have enough spears for the phalanx rule, and there's only 4 in a box. But if you don't mind discarding a small pile of shields and bows, 2 or 3 boxes of the base warriors make a good foundation.
For leaders, Khamul is a natural choice as you don't need to ally him in. At higher point levels on a fell beast he can last longer. Amdur is a good hero...a little pricey, but with a good fight score and pike support he can chew through other warriors, plus he acts as a banner. The Dragon Knight and War Priest are also useful additions.
Don't know about the Mordor Troll...maybe at much higher point levels (eg: 750+), but you need a hero to ally him in...unless you call him a Troll Chieftain, which is cheaper than a Troll + orc captain.
Cataphracts are solid, but not stellar.

So I'd start with a few boxes of warriors, the command sets, and either Khamul (or ringwraith on fell beast) or Amdur. Hope that helps!

The troll idea is good, I had a similar idea for Harad.

i didnt want to create another topic (its quite filled up in here anyway), soo i ll just use this one (if the one who created it agrees) becouse its about easterlings.

This army list is ment for SBG. Soo here s the deal:

Rhun/Harad army.
The whole idea is, while having the more durable Easterling units try to engage into close combat, the 20 haradrim warriors will equip bows and ensure ranged support. Rather then having Easterling warrior (8pts with bow), i decided to go with Haradrim warrior who is cheaper, thus i can field more units (6pts with bow).
As for the comand, i ve chosen War priest over a second Captain or Dragon Knight, mainly to use his spells to boost Amdurs potential.

*You can see that right now, there are no Cataphrakts included, thats becouse i do not have them yet, therefore its only pure infantry based army.

Warriors of Harad (1 = 5pts)
*20 units =100pts
*20 bows = 20pts
*Final = 120 pts

Easterling Warriors (1 = 7pts)
*16 units = 112pts
*16 spear = 32pts
*16 shield = 16pts
*Final = 160pts

Easterling Comand (1 = 60pts, 1 = 50pts)
*War priest = 60pts
*Captain = 50pts
*1 Easterling Halberd = 5pts
*1 Shield = 5pts
*Final 120pts

Amdur Lord of Blades (1 = 100pts )
Easterling Falchion (Elven Blade)

Final count = 500pts

@Mydrin you might want to get a budget wraith in place of the captain.
@Saruman the white, like everyone else is saying get Amdur, a captain, a war priest or an easterling dragon knight (i'd save that one for bigger games)
If you have the money you might want to get some kataphrakts, or a khandish chairot?

And btw, you don't have to paint a troll in a certain way for it to be in you're army, you can if you want. But may i point out you could use the troll as a troll chieftan, meaning you could make a few forces with him, khamul and a box or two of easterlings.
