When the plastic swans were released, I bought a box with the idea of ones starting an expensive fiefdom army. Now, whith some conversions in mind, I was thinking such an army isn't as far-fetched as I thought, and that it doesn't really have to be so expensive either. So I came up with the following basic 500pt list, and some tactics to go with them:
Army List
Heroes
Imrahil of Dol Amroth ------------- 135

Warriors
14 Knights of Dol Amroth --------- 126
13 Rangers of Gondor ------------- 117
with spears
13 Men-At-Arms ------------------- 117

Basic Tactics

K_K_K_K_K_K_I_K_K_K_K_K_K
K R_R_R_R_R_R_R_R_R_R_R_R K
M_M_M_M_M_M_M_M_M_M_M_M

So, every knight will be supported by a ranger and a pike. Between every knight will be a space of 1", to avoid trapping. Imrahil will be in the middle, making sure everyone is within range of Dol Amroth for Gondor. 2 knights on the flanks will fill in gaps of the front line.
The strategy will be to stand back and shoot the enemy to pieces with 3+ rangers. When they get close, they'll meet 3 F4/D6 attacks along the line!

What do you think ?

Very good tactic... But I prefer to get the knights in first line then pikes then rangers... 8)

good army and tactic, but if your keeping every-body 1" apart the rangers won't be able to volley.
so just keep them together until the enemy arrives. 8)

(1) My knight are in the first line
(2) Why would you put the rangers behind the pikes ?

Oh sorry forgot the pike rule that need two for support...

Behind ? They'd probably be almost against the table edge :-D

Good tactics, even if a bit boring.

I wouldn't bother with the one-inch gaps; you'll have the equivalent of four attacks to win the fight, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Because most Tournaments here are 750pt, I tried to convert it to 750pts.

Army List
Heroes
Imrahil of Dol Amroth ------------- 135
Allied: Beregrond ------------------ 31
on horse

Warriors
16 Knights of Dol Amroth --------- 144
13 Rangers of Gondor ------------- 117
with spears
13 Men-At-Arms ------------------- 117
Allied: 8 KoMT --------------------- 112
Allied: Bolt Thrower --------------- 90
Swift Reload

Points: 746
Models: 54
Might: 4

Xtra Tactics
KoMT for flanking / taking out other cavalery / attacking stay-behind units
Beregrond to make sure they'll charge
Bolt thrower to kill heroes and elites

I have to say I'm less sure about this one... Any advice ?

No... Net yet... Damn... To early here in Belgium.
Oh, now I see it. I upgraded the swan knights to 16, so its 144, not 126 (I copied the 500pt list but forgot to add 2 off these)

Then it makes the total of 746 (not 646)

Yes... Could this be a winning tournament army ?

Post subject:  Re: A Basic Fiefdom Army (500pt)

Yeah It could be... The only promblem now would be if a Nazgul threw magics at Imrahil... But as you have Beregond is more easy to stand... 8)

Yes... Didn't think about the fact that imrahil is still vulnerable for magic and bow-fire...

I would replace beregond for faramir with bow so that you have more might. I would also swap the KoMt for legolas on horseback/more numbers. When it comes to ringwraiths the bolt thrower could either kill them or remove whatever models they are hiding behind before the wraith gets close enough.

Sorry, but 3 powerful named heroes in just a 750pt list, just for might. No, that's not my way
