Hey all,

I am attempting to make a 600 pts elven army. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Warband One

Celeborn with Heavy armour, Elven Blade and Shield

12 W/E with Spear/Throwing Knife

Warband Two

Rumil

3 GOTC

6 Galadhrim Warrior with Spear/Shield

Warband Three

Haldir with Armour/Bow

10 W/E with Bow

594

9 Might. I need to fill those last points though.

It looks pretty solid. I'm not 100% sure on the points for the Guards of the Galadhrim Court, but if you can, swap the 3 naked Galadhrim for 3 more.

My biggest worry would be the amount of un-armoured models floating about the list. Then again, the 12 WE with Spears and Throwing Knives sound pretty mean.

EDIT:

Actually, I have your totally at 642pts. I'm not sure if it's you, or me, with the off addition.

@Lord Hurin: Adding three more Guards brings me to 595 - good idea!

@Black Knight: Yeah! They could get smashed, but a defence 3 and a defence 4 is a same roll to wound with Strength 2 bows and Strength 4 crossbows and for one less point!

I have edited it, hopefully this is correct.

Quick suggestion would be to change Celeborn to a Stormcaller, then add more GotGC to the list. Maybe like this.

DEFENDERS OF CARAS GALAHRON

Rumil- 70pts
6 Guards of the Galadhrim Court- 72pts
5 Galadhrim w/ Shields, Spears, Heavy Armour- 55pts
3 Galadhrim w/ Elven Blades, Heavy Armour- 30pts

Haldir w/ Elf Bow- 75pts
-12 Wood Elves w/ Elf Bows- 108pts

Stormcaller- 60pts
-12 Wood Elves w/ Spears, Throwing Knives- 132pts

Funny, your list was similar to something I was cooking up tonight.

I don't know, I think Celeborn could be used better than a stormcaller

I'd definitely drop Celeborn for a more competitive list although running 3 named characters in a match seems more fun. i say roll with it :-)

Oh me too. But the price difference is nearly 90pts. That's...a lot. Nearly 1/6 of the list tied up in basically half a character. I'm sure he could work, but I'm not sure about busting out the high tier heroes untill 700pts. That, and I think the Stormcaller works as a cheaper force multipler, just like Celeborn. So, overall, I think it's the better choice at 600pts.

3 named heroes??

Haldir doesnt count as a "named hero" like celeborn.
Haldir is as expensive (and sometimes cheaper) than elven captains.

I like your list. But be careful not to play too passive

Last i checked Haldir was a named character, i meant it in the sense of creating a themed army rather than having vanilla captains.

Nice to see Haldir and his brother fighting alongside their leader to fend off any attackers......

What i meant was that Haldir is no super hero like aragorn, he isn't a game winner.
I would say fielding 3 named (value pack)heroes is normally a game winner (in the new system). Named heroes are normally value for points (not in all cases but most).
Specifically with Haldir, legolas, rumil, Erestor in the elven world. These are cheap upgrades for captains, but make a strong difference.
Celeborn is a good centre for the army. He is hard enough to take on trolls, fellbeasts but with (like most heroes) a preference to slaughtering smaller things while backed up by his battle brothers.

I agree the theme is great. The brothers and their leader shouting "come and have a go if you think you're hard enough"

Thranduil is probably the best "minor" named hero now. Much better than his son for the same point cost.

Maybe yeah Tharanduil is a better all-round character now than Legolas but there is something satisfying from 3 shots in one turn :-)

3 shots of which 2/3 hit, so 2 hits a turn at 3str means that a third actually wound, a sixth if against anything with 6D or higher vs 1 shot of which 5/6 hit PLUS has armor PLUS an elven cloak PLUS has an elven blade PLUS has 2 auto cast spells. Basically, Thranduil>Legolas.

i agreed he is better did i not :-)

Plus i just like Legolas from the films and so fielding him would be better for me as i can get more into, hard to imagine a character you know very little about. But from a pure rules point of view granted Tharanduil rocks! but i have no wood elves only galadhrim so he would stick out like a sore thumb unfortunately.
