Hello all, I am new to the LOTR hobby. I collected the boxed sets when they were originally released and they sort of sat in my basement gathering dust for years due to a lack of players. My friends and I discovered the Battle Companies rules and have been having great fun with those. But now we are expanding to 500 point SBG starter forces. I already have a starting Galhadrim force that I am working on but the faction that most interests me is Angmar. Ive been an avid Tolkien reader for years and always liked the little talked about war between Arnor and Angmar. I got into LOTR just at the tail end of I stopped at the local GW store to peep in on the Angmar list while mine is still lost in the bowels of the US postal service and it looks like it went though some fairly significant changes. Add to that the fact that the old starting army from the Ruin of Arnor supplement doesn't really work now because of the new warband creation rules. I was hoping some of the veterans here could give me a bit of advice on the validity of this starting army. The points values may be a little off because I'm using the old books but how does this look as a possible starting Angmar list? Angmar Starter Army: 499 points Warband 1[i][b] [i]Witch King of Angmar On horse Might +3 Will +5 (Total 15) Fate +2 Morgul Blade Crown of Morgul Spectres (x2) Orc Trackers (x6) [i][b]Warband 2: Buhrdur, Troll Chieftain Wild Wargs x3 Orc Warriors (x1 Spear / x2 Two handers) Warband 3: Orc Captain w/ Shield and Hand Weapon Orc Warriors (x12) (x5 Shield / x5 Spear / x2 Two Hander) As far as I can tell its pretty solid. Though I am mostly theory-crafting as I have little experience with the actual full scale game I think its got everything I would need. I have a great Beatstick / tank type brute in Bhurdur, a solid leader for the core of orcs in the captain. A decent amount of bow-fire from the trackers, a fairly mobile core of models with the witch king backed up by wargs, and enough extra will on the Witch king to get stuck in after hopefully breaking a few staves and sapping the will of some heroes to let the two spectres pull important characters out of position to be disposed of by the orcs. Thanks in Advance! |

Thanks for the tip. I edited the post to remove the point breakdown and Ill remember to read the forum rules more carefully in the future. Mea Culpa. |
