Post subject:  Gondor Heroes

I am planning on playing a campaign this weekend and I am trying to decide on heroes for my Gondor force. Battles will range from 250pt to around 600 pt armies. So... what are the best heroes for Gondor? for 250 pt armies? for 500 pt armies?

Also, my play group has also decided to not use the warband rules so any number of heroes and units can be used (with 33% of models with bows as only restriction). Anyway to exploit this with Gondor hero and unit choices? Anyway to exploit it with strategy?

Thanks guys! :)

Faramir with heavy armour seems like a good option. In larger games (500+) you could consider taking Imrahil, he is pretty much the templet of a superhero. Take an addiional captain in either case. Actually using Imrahil and Farimir at 500 isn't a bad idea either.

Hmm, who is bringing 43 Goblins and a Goblin Captain to the 250p battle?

Anyway, aside from asking ho likes to powergame and bend rules, there was a point to me replying. At smaller point games you do want cheaper heroes like Pippin and Beregond. When you reacher higher points, grab a powerful hero like Imrahil and 2 or 3 supporting heroes, also take some GotFC with shields.

Not Imrahil. Boromir of the white tower!

Both are to expensive at 250-500 point games.
I'd say a couple of captains, and indeed Faramir.
Pippin is fun also, and perhaps a knight of the White Tower?

At that points level, I wouldn't take any uber-Heroes like Aragorn or Boromir. However, if you have lots of Knights of Dol Amroth, then Imrahil would be a good choice (so you can benefit from his banner rule).

Otherwise, though, I'd just go for Heroes like Faramir, Cirion, and Madril; all decent Heroes with a good supply of Might.

Good point about the pwergaming. Mabe you guys should use a maximum model count or something?

I don't think anyone is going to powergame to that extent. If they do, we will create a model maximum or something, but i am not too worried. As for your other comments, thank you very much! I think I am going to use Faramir in as many matches as I can and Beregrond as well.
