Thoughts? I want to keep it fairly thematic, but also reasonably competitive.

You need some Abrakhans in there. Nothing quite like the ability to wound D6 on 4s for 8pts (with no penalty) ;)

I would also mix it up a bit so you have at least one all-bow warband to give you a volley team.

I always prefer Betrayer on a horse with some Serpent Riders, lances + re-rolls 1's and 2's is awesome

Abrakhans are nice, but they don't really fit my theme. Also, they can't be supported by spears so they aren't quite as good as they initially appear.

I very much doubt I'll have a problem with volleying. I can deploy my warbands next to each other if I want, but, because the new deployment rules mean both armies can start very close to each other, there's really very little need for volleying.

The reason is the Betayer's on a Fell Beast is two fold: one, to take full advantage of his Bane of Kings rules, and two, Fell Beasts are very good anyways. I see your point about the Serpent Riders, but, for thematic reasons, I'd rather keep Suladan there. Also, this army is very archery focused, and so benefits a lot from the Betrayer's poison rule.

I'm having a little trouble deciding who my leader should be; the Betrayer or Suladan? The Betrayer has a higher Defence and more Fate, but less Wounds. I've also got to take into account how I'll be using each of them; Suladan will probably be spending most of his time fighting Warriors, whereas the Betrayer will be dealing with enemy Heroes.
Any suggestions?

I would vote Suladan as main leader, why?
Cause the nazgul might vanish if you use him 2 hardly on spells or will get into bad situations which suladan with multiple wounds can make mistakes, take some wounds and keep fighting.
I normally tend to place wizard type models as support, morale support and magic resistance, unless there is no better standard field captain o king which the wizad/nazgul profile might be better.

You know you could give a few comments on your army and a summary, as currently it looks about as bland as a janitor's work report ;)

List 1 is probably a bit better than 2 due to that banner scenario buisness, and having three attacks on the charge with fight 4 would be godly. I don't know about suladan and the betrayer, though. I would personally put all your archers and spears in seperate warbands, i.e, 12 bows in one warband and 0 spears. I think it would give you much more flexibility especially seeing as your opponent can't work with much strategically if you deploy all your archers quite far back which you would presumably do anyway. Betrayer and suladan seem a bit over-kill to be a bit over-kill seeing as they both accomplish nearly the same thing, suladan is just a bit more durable and can't do magic. From a competitive point of view, I would go for the golden king over suladan as with all those bows and the betrayer, you should easily be able to break your opponent quickly and get his heroes off the table in a turn or two afterwards. You really don't have any other options to be honest, though, if you want to keep it thematic.
