Hey Guys, I am trying to make a list of a tournament using just Rivendell Elves. What do you think? I would try and work in 6 more bows. I think the rest looks pretty good. Also on a fluff note. I think I would replace Arwen with Glorfindel. Arwen is the daughter of Elrond but Glorfindel was staying at Rivendell in the 3rd age. And if I were Elrond I would rather have an ex-gondolin elf that's taken down a balrog over my daughter in a fight anyday. |

Glorfindel is not the same Silmarillion's Glorfindel, killed in a fight with a balrog in the fall of Gondolin. One question, Elladan and Elrohir count as a single hero to lead a warband? |

If you already have Elrond and the Twins I don't see the point in taking Glorfindel. Elrond has Natures Wrath, so Arwen is a bit superfluous. You might take a storm caller instead, because the high elf version has Strengthen Will, which means more Natures Wrath for Elrond. |

I guess the Reason I took Arwen over any other hero, was to stay within the theme of the army. House of Rivendell, The army orginally started as the children of Elrond, but jumped up when I wanted to make the army slightly bigger. Brian |

Theme is a good enough reason I did that once, called it the "High Elf Family Picnic". But we didn't go high enough in points for me to take many troops, and I got slaughtered. However, Arwen, the Twins, and 12 warriors did manage to take out the Warg Chief and 8 wargs in one turn...it was glorious while it lasted. Irrelevant point: I always thought Arwen should have had more healing-type spells and wish they would have restructured her profile with the new releases: 4 Will, Strengthen Will, Renew. Then the high elf storm caller could be like the other storm callers. |

@StewardofGondor- The Glorfindel is one and the same as the Gondolin Glorfindel, who yes, did die in a fight with a Balrog. Tolkien, in one of his letters, wrote that Glorfindel was the same, being sent back to Middle Earth on the same ship that bore Gandalf from the Undying Lands to the Grey Havens. @Lochlan8me- I do agree with Purplesounds that the extra bows can be very useful. @whafrog- Agree with the irrelevant point, I do. |

Thanks I was gonna write that exact same thing when I got to the bottom of the thread. No two elves have the same name. But back on topic. Your list is thematic and cool either way. It might be cool to include Arwen just because no one else really does. I've been trying to make a mirkwood army but other than Legolas and his dad I'm not really finding any other Elves of note. You have a lot more interesting characters to work with in Rivendell. |

Thanks everyone for their input. I agree I should put more bows in the line up, I think I will do that with Arwen's group since it will already be staying back with the archers that it does have, and she is the weakest of the heroes in combat. I use to play a lot of warhammer so this isnt too different. I was wondering what is the Tournament scene like for LOTR? Brian |

You might want Arwen a bit closer though, so she can cast the spell. You have decent numbers considering what army you're using, and the Warbands system. |

Don't keep the archers too far away from the main troops- in a pinch, they are just as effective for swinging the balance of a fight in your direction. |

I agree that Arwen should have more healing powers, but that isnt in my control. So with the addition of 6 archers I should be good to go. I just got to decide where to put them. Lochlan8me |

I would advocate putting a full 12 in Arwen's warband. That way, in the event you have Maelstrom they can all come on, shielding her, and you likewise can protect them via Nature's Wrath. At least, that's my initial thought. |

Hmmm, let's see, first of all, please leave an enter between the warbands, as my first thought was: and what are the actual warbands. Then, as I see you're using many spearmen and elven blades, I'd say this: S:spearmen without shield D:shieldmen without elven blade E:blade A:spear&shield S D S D E A E A S D S D This way you've got your entire frontline shielded, but, when fighting starts, the blademen swap with the spear&shieldmen, so they can get spearsupport, aswell as use 2h's when they want (no, I'm saying you've got a choice, not that you can use both spear-support and 2hs in the same turn). Those spearguys would only need shields when you get attacked in the back, and with a 6 long shieldwall, or even 2 or 3 shieldwalls next to each other, you won't get attacked in the back easily. Then, I've never used him, but try swapping Elrond with his Master of Rivendel version, and maybe try to add something with strengthen will, but then you've got Nature's Wrath that deals damage, and when in water, he could just whipe out a massive shieldwall using 1 or 2 points of will. But, as you don't have Gandalf for free Strengthen Will, I'd still stick with the armored version, as aside foresight and Wrath of the Bruinen, he is kinda useless IMO. And, maybe swap Arwen with Erestor or even Glorfindel. |
