Hey all, after seeing some awesome High Elves in Shieldmaiden's WiP thread, I dug out all of my models. They almost all need stripping and repainting but it looks like I could have a half decent army with minimal purchasing. Rivendell Guard Elrond - 170pts 2 High Elves with Elven blades - 20pts 4 High Elves with shields - 40pts 5 High Elves with spears and shields - 55pts Glorfindel's Household Glorfindel - 130pts 3 High Elves with Elven blades - 30pts 9 High Elves with spears and shields - 99pts Rivendell Scouts Alastor, High Elf Captain with Elf bow - 80pts 11 High Elves with Elf bows - 121pts Scions of Lost Arnor Arathorn - 75pts 12 Rangers of Arnor, 7 with spears - 103pts Aravir, Ranger of the North - 25pts Targon, Ranger of the North - 25pts Valuin, Ranger of the North with spear - 26pts 53 models, 14 Might. 999 points total. |

Nice theme. From a competitive perspective, the major recommendation I would make would be to drop Elrond; he's just too expensive. |

Ditto. I'd never take Elrond because he's too expensive. Swap him for Elladan & Elrohir and you'd keep the theme running strong |

Really? Why is Elrond too expensive when I see someone like Aragorn running all over the battlefield? I must admit, I've never played any of the scenarios with Elrond but he seems nigh unkillable. I also don't have Elladan and Elrohir in their armoured forms and am not especially liking the thought of spending $70+tax on them... |

I use them in their unarmoured forms, but that's me. What makes Elrond so expensive is that combat wise, he is no better than Glorfindel or Gil-galad, who are 30/40 pts cheaper. He costs more because of his spells, which, having only 3 will points, make him a pretty bad spellcaster. Having said that I was going to include Aragorn-Strider as a lone hero in my Rivendell/Dunedain force, so whatever. xD |

Defensively he's much, much better though. He has Terror over Glorfindel, and 2 more Fate than GG. He can also reroll those Fate points. |

Glorfindel technically should have terror though, and probably will when they put the FAQ out. |

Shieldmaiden wrote: Glorfindel technically should have terror though, and probably will when they put the FAQ out. Yeah, hopefully. I do love the character and models, but sadly I disliked the helmets they gave his armoured form and Erestor. My Glorfindel is currently sporting a spearman's head and shield and fills the role of Captain. Hence his lack of heavy armour in the list. |

My thoughts are such... Why are there 2 high elves with elven blade in the bow group and 2 guys with bow in the sword group?? I also would mount glorfindel... but you would need a conversion (I did one, it isnt that hard but expensive) But other than that looks good |

Why would it be expensive? Also why not just use the model made for mounted glorfIndel? |

WhoelsebutHaldir wrote: Why would it be expensive? Also why not just use the model made for mounted glorfIndel? Because the mounted Glorfindel doesn't have armour. I'd have to convert a model using the armoured foot and unarmoured mounted versions. Basically, to have Glorfindel armoured foot and mounted and Glorfindel unarmoured foot and mounted it would be around $100 and you'd end up with an extra unarmoured foot model. Besides all that, I don't know what advantage having a single expensive mounted model would be. Glorfindel is a beast, but I'd prefer him to be a properly supported beast. Anyway, I've been strongly considering swapping Elrond for the Twins in armour. I'll either give them bows or give Glorfindel his armour, and that would free up just enough points for a 12th Elf archer. |

Ok makes sense, but sinse there is no official model of glorfindel mounted with armor, you could simply use the unarmoured official model and say that he has armor on. Unless your group is very strict on WYSIWYG ,(mine is not so they are ok with this). But I do see your point, having an actually armored, mounted glorfindel would be nice. In that case why not use a high elf body? That might be too hard, I wouldn't know, as I don't do conversions. |

I made one from a mounted twin with the head cut off then cut the head off the foot glorfindel. So 1 mounted armoured twin + 1 foot armoured glorfindel = EXPENSIVE! |

That also works. I was thinking of decapitating my unarmoured Elladan and Elrohir and putting their noggins on a couple of headless spearmen I have... |
