So I have a 600pt game tomorrow and I figured ide give the shield/cav galadhrim army a try. So without further a due..... -Galadhrim cpt w/horse,shield 8 galadhrim knights w/bow,shield 253 -Rumil w/elven cloak 6 galadhrim warriors w/shield,spear 4 wood elf warriors w/spear 2 galadhrim warriors w/bow Total: 187 -stormcaller 10 galadhrim warriors w/shield,spear Total: 160 Grand total:600pts So, thoughts? Tactics I should use? I'm kind of worried about the cross bows I'm bound to face tomorrow, ill be fighting an isengard army. Note: this is pretty much a copy of an army I saw on TLA with a couple of my own modifications, anyway give credit where credit is due is the point. |

Hm so i see you go for a high mobile ranged force. Thats good provided you can escape the enemy. On the other battalions you could maybe swap the wood elves with galadhrim(with spears) After that hope that the map you will be playing will have a nice forest and kill as many uruks as you can before they come into the woods. Rumil is a good hero choice and will help you will some fights! If you can spare some models maybe you should consider adding a banner. If i were you I would try to kill all the ranged force the enemy has(thats where the cavalry gets in) as fast as possible. After that you will continue roaming and shooting while the uruks fight with your galadhrim in melee combats. When you get into melee range the best thing I could do is win the most fights to kill the enemy. You have higher fight values but lesser strength. So thats why I would add a banner. Hope this helped you |

So swap the Galadhrim with bows for wood elves with bows, and swap 5 Galadhrim in warband 3 for wood elves with spears and throwing daggers. Really curious to know how your mounted unit fares |

I used the army with the above suggestions made. K, so the game went heavily in my favor with a victory of 8-1points in domination. I had a decent advantage with the only cavalry on the field but I was outnumbered. Most of my cavalry including the mounted captain managed to turn my opponents right flank into mush and I managed to capture one of his home objectives(our objectives were deployed in a manner similar to a 5on a die). The central combat went greatly in my favor with my soldiers steamrolling many an Uruk-hai, by the end of turn 3(or4) my opponent(LOTRisenguard) decided to surrender. His army was something like... Uruk cpt, shaman, ugluk, and vrashku 8pikes,8xbows,6-8shields,6berserkers,4bows. Anyway I definatly liked using this army and I will consider using it again in the future. |

Haha I know That feeling after I painted my first two boxes of cavalry I promised to myself I wouldn't buy anymore cause it was a huge pain, then I got three more boxes worth in a giant Christmas box I bought from a friend. Cavalry are such a pain to paint! |

this is just my vie, but i think that there is no point having a shield on a galadhrim knight, as they ride armoured horses, and they have defence 5 already Am i right in saying this, or is there something i've missed? |

You are wrong. The horse's defence is not the same as the mount's defence. If the arrow or sword hits the rider you need D5 on the rider. Seeing as evil have an abundance of S4 I would say the shields are worth it |
