Hi guys, I was wondering whether you could give me any tips on how to make this army better. I will be fighting a few battles against Isenguard and Rohan. I know 2200 is a very big army, but that is what we have chosen to play. Warband 1:Scouts Legolas with elven cloak 3 wood elf sentinels 175 pts Warband 2: Frontline Elrond 12 High Elf Warriors with shields 290 pts Warband 3: Kingsguard Gil-Galad with shield 12 High Elf Warriors with shields 265 pts Warband 4 High Elf Captain 11 High Elf Warriors with spears High Elf with banner 219 pts Warband 5 Elladan and Elrohir 11 High Elves with spears 250 pts Warband 6 Glorfindel with heavy armour and horse 12 High Elf warriors with elf bows 282 pts Warband 7 High Elf Captain 12 High Elf warriors with elf bows 207 pts Warband 8: Reserves Haldir with armour and elf cloak 4 Galadhrim warriors with shield 4 Galadhrim warriors with elf bow 4 galadhrim warriors with spear Warband 9 Galadhrim Stormcaller 4 galadhrim knights with shield 2 galadhrim knights Thoughts? I plan to bring glorfindel to the galadhrim knights so that they are a more powerful unit and they are all cavalry. The infantry are there to hold a line, apart from Legolas and sentinels (in the woods somewhere) and the galadhrim (behind the high elves, waiting to cover up any gaps that form) Thanks, LordElrond |

Few points about your list. Please refrain from posting point values for individual models etc as GW can get funny and claim copywright stuff. Warband 5 doesnt seem to have a warband leader. Looks alright, hope you have lots of paitence and time as 2k point games tend to take 4/5 hours to play. I would maybe put in more sentinels or get rid of them all. 3 sentinels in the woods wont do much tbh. |

I'm not brave enough to do a 2200 point game it would take all day and the next, but then, my group isn't well-versed in the rules, and we socialize a lot. The list looks like it will need a lot of converting, otherwise the only thing that doesn't seem optimized is the Galadhrim...you might as well give the knights some bows...or wait until February for the Rivendell knights. One thing you might consider for spear support and good tactical movement (and a bit of magic) is Gildor and his Noldorin Exiles. You can fill up his warband with wood elves armed with wood elf spears (good for shielding) and throwing daggers, and upgrade them for a point. If you have any other warbands with wood elves, you can upgrade them as well. |

Thanks. I don't have Gildor, but I have an unarmoured Glorfindel coming from ebay (I could convert ot just paint him differently), and I don't have any wood elf warriors (something that I would like to change in the near future). Also, do you agree with SouthernDunedain about the sentinels |

I don't agree or disagree It's a good point, because there have to be enough to do the job or they become expensive warriors. I can count on half a hand the number of times I've used anything other than the moving song, adding Terror a couple times to a single WE holding a gap. In that game, that was worth the 25 points right there, and I think I'll make more use of it in future. It's also rare I've used the moving song on a normal warrior, usually on a monster, but they have pretty decent odds of making their courage roll. So it's nice to have more than one in range, in case the first didn't work. I guess it depends what you want to do with them. If you want to use them to move things around and create gaps, with 2200 points of opponents you'll probably need more. If you want to spread them around to add Terror to key points, that could also be very useful, but 3 is probably enough. BTW, you have no elf blades at all...I think you need a few, maybe 4-6. They are very handy for monster chopping, or really anything D6. Use them as escorts for your heroes. You won't need too many, since you'll be so outnumbered you'll need every fight optimized, but when the opportunity presents, you'll be ready. |

Which models should I sacrifice for Gildor and the wood elves, and which models should I give elven blades to? |

Galahadrim usually are the best with elven blades. As for Gildor and wood elves I would sacrifice number 7 warband.Since the wood elves will give you that fire power and their upgrade with Noldorian Exiles is handy. |

The Wood elves usually die fast if hit while the Galahadrim have a better chance to remain alive. Plus, the wood elves are usually best equipped with a wood elfs spear and throwing daggers or bows. I mean ability to shield with a spear... you gotta be kidding me if you say no to that. |

Thecow wrote: The Wood elves usually die fast if hit while the Galahadrim have a better chance to remain alive. That depends. Against S2 or S4 shooting, there's no difference. Evil also has a lot of S4 warriors, eg: against Uruks, wood elves are more efficient. So you're often paying for armour that serves no purpose. I usually only use shielded Galadhrim, and Guards, since D5 is a sweet spot. The other jobs I give to wood elves. |

Against an army of just (JUST) orcs (or just all strength 3 models) galadhrim with spears and galadhrim with elven blades I imagine can be very good, considering the army would just be made of normal orcs their shooting would be bad to nothing at all, so having D5 wouldn't be very important. Thus D4 would be great and would probably surpass high elves in combat efficiency, but (I can't stress this enough, if there must be no ,NO, S4 around). But the likelihood that you will face an army like that now, is so impossible that you would do better with a mix if galadhrim with shields and wood elves. |

However, one of my main opponents has an Isenguard force (all strength 4) |

Me too, in that case.....galadhrim with shield front line with wood elf with spear/throwing daggers supporting. In addition at least one stormcaller and a banner if you have the points. Rumil is a must, because of his strength 4 and amazing rule. |
