I have ordered the Mordor Sourcebook from GW and I would like to know any units you would recommend me getting ideally for a 700 point size army. |

Orcses. Of whichever kind you prefer (Mordor or Morannon). Some Captains, a Troll or two and some cavalry (Warg Riders or Morgul Knights). Also at least one Ringwraith. |

Orcs orcs , orcs and more orcs. why not get a nice characterful hero too? or are you going for competetive rather than thematic? |

My Mordor army wont have a theme. Is the Witch King of Angmar op? What should I use for range because I plan to use lots of those Morannon Orcs and I think none of them come with any type of ranged weapons? |

Don't use any archery. I never do, hitting on a 5+ isn't worth keeping Orc's out of combat since they rely on strength in numbers. When moved your Orc's will now only hit on a 6 so that's even worse. |

The Witch-King is not op. Though I would make the argument that no character is actually op in this game. Rather, I would describe him as worth his points- just be sure to take the Crown of Morgul, maximize his stat line, I would advocate a horse, leave the flail at home, team him up with a troll, and start squishing good heroes. I would also advocate Morannon orcs, as the higher defense and higher strength are an overall plus, but there will be less of a horde effect that way. |

Agreed, archery is not required, but then it's good to take a drummer to get into combat faster and avoid any enemy archery. A command blister will contain one. If you want archers, Orc Trackers are okay, but their range is poor and the models are metal/finecast, so more expensive. Mounted on wargs they can get into range quicker, but that takes some converting, probably not worth it. |

Trackers are still metal (thankfully). Just to be an echo, any of the named wraiths are decent. If you are considering a troll, make it a drummer one so it effects all your troops. And yes, morannon orcs all the way. If you want to win, ally in a shade from Angmar. Those things are OP regardless of what anyone says. In small games, they are well worth their points. |
