Post subject:  Should I start a Angmar army?

Are the units useful or is it a "strength in numbers" army? I have not got the Moria and Angmar Sourcebook yet so I don't know the point value of units ect. Is this a good start?

The Sourcebook
The Witch-king of Angmar
Three boxes of Mordor Orcs (36 Orcs in total)
One Shade
Two sets of Dead Marsh Spectres (6 Spectres in total)
One Cave troll

Is there anything that I am missing out or don't need? :?
Any and all advice/ recommendations/ tips & tricks will be appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

This is a really good start, wich wiki do you have? (fell beast horse or on foot?)
The witch-king is very good in combination with spectres becouse of -1 courage and the shade can give the weak orcs a good boost en thecave troll is very good for so less points.

Oh I don't have any of those yet I've just been thinking about what to get, I'm thinking of getting the Witch-king on foot and mounted. Do you think more Orcs and Cave Trolls would be better?

That'd be a solid start. I'd take a look at buhdur (a hero troll) as for his points hes now a beast. An issue with angmar armies is always might and barrow wights and shades have none - so maybe an orc captain too. Also the trolls give you a punch that is also lacking so thats a good choice

It's a very characterful army, lots of things that can be made into amazing models. and it looks like you've got a good start in mind.

The only thing I might change is the Dead Marsh Spectres, depending on your converting prowess, and get the last alliance box and work from there so you can get a bit more variety in pose.

I would only buy a box of Specters. You don't need 6 of them. I think the barrow-wights are very helpful, (I foretell you will agree when you read their rules :-D ).
A shade is a must. As others mentioned you will need might so I would include some captains. Furthermore an orc shaman can prove extremely useful with his fury spell.

I would purchase (always relative to the point-size of the army you are planning to create)
1 Shade
1 blister of Barrow-Wights
1 blister of Specters
1 Cave Troll
1 Orc Command box
Buhrdur
24 orcs
a bunch of orc trackers

But most importantly I'd buy the sourcebook first and proceed from there.

I would most certainly pick up Burdhur, in my opinion he is one of the most valuable pieces available to Angmar. If you are going to get spectres then go ahead, but make sure that you spread them across your army, placing only 1 or 2 in each warband as opposed to making a warband out of them.

To start out with, only bother with either the shade or the barrow wights, you won't need both to begin with. Make sure to mount the witch king on something, and perhaps pick up a box or two of warg riders, because:
A: Mounted support for the Witch-King will help.
B: Variety is the spice of DEATH!

Now for some tips on magic (incase you are new to the game)

If you're gonna field the WK at lower than full power, then make sure he has 3 might.
Generally just keep him out of combat and target big heroes. If you feel like you have alot of will, don't be afraid to cast a drain courage every now and then, even if the enemy isn't broken, alot of players don't see the value of courage and might not even bother resisting it. Also now that transfix is a bit weaker, and every hero can raise their fight value with heroic strike, you probably won't be casting it a whole bunch. Black darting horses is also a very effective technique against enemy heroes. I'd generally shy away from channeling any spells, save your might for heroics :)

However the main thing to do with the witch king is 'your staff is broken'. If your enemy is fielding a wizard then go all out to ensure you break their staff early on.
