"This box set contains one multi-part plastic Balrog and includes options for a flaming sword or whip. Model supplied on a 60mm scenic base"

You can sometimes still find the metal Balrog available online in the Bridge of Khazad Dum set. I haven't heard anyone that has both compare the detail loss (if any) on the plastic but I have a friend with the metal version and it looks great.

It's easy to get confused though, as the old metel one back in the day looked exactly like the plastic one bar the option for the lash.

There are two metal versions and one plastic. The cirrently availalable one is plastic and is based on one desogn.

You can see all three in the miniatures collection guide - I think it is by miniman.

There's two options with the plastic version, flaming sword or whip. This is still currently available. There is also a similar version in metal with plastic wings and one with metal wings.... An all metal Balrog is pretty heavy.. Plus there is also another metal one with plastic wings which is armed with a whip, where the creature is stooping... This is possible my favorite one...

So five variants in total
