You can ignore this first paragraph if you don't care about background (I would). Firstly it needs to be said that I have very little playing experience and no experience of forming an army on my own. However, I wish to change that fact and for the first time I would like to build a 'proper' army instead of just buying a couple of boxes of this and a few of that because I think they look cool. Despite having played very few games from those that I have played and experience with strategy based video games (i.e. Total War games) I have a rough idea of what kind of army I want and how I want to play. I also know which models I want to include (simply because they look cool). Now to the actual point! I would like your help to build an army of Arnor based on the forces present at the Battle of Fornost. Models I would like to include are: the new Men of Dale from the Hobbit as replacement models for Warriors of Arnor or as the reinforcements from Gondor; Rivendell Knights and maybe High Elves (WotLA) under command of Glorfindel; Dunedain/Rangers of Middle Earth/Rangers of the North. I would also like to be able to take advantage of the removed bow limit one gets when taking Dunedain/RotN with Rangers. But that's where my preferences end. A playable force, based on this battle with lots and lots of bows. I don't mind what points value it is so long as it comes to a common limit. I'm sorry I can't help myself more but I'm sure you guys can help! Thank you in advance. |

That is pretty solid actually. Only thing missing is some cavalry. |

You have Glorfindel and a king of men on horses, considering Glorfindel makes up a large part of an all hero force, i'd say he works well as a lone cavalry unit. |

In game terms they are great, but it is just such a shame Glorf can't lead them! |

He could try asking his friends to let them count under the Rivendell and Ereigon army list, its what me and my group have done to allow me to have my Warriors of Erebor and Knights of Rivendell (which are beautiful) Besides, Elrond is pretty solid as well, + some basic magic. |

You could always come to the *cough cough* selfless plug *cough cough* 300pt tournament in London? It's a perfect points level for beginners, and far enough away from Suffolk no-one could recognize you and pelt you with Molasses etc (in case you are worried about that sorta thing) |

SuicidalMarsbar wrote: @Sid why have you got 6 dunedain when you only need two?!? Theme . I see our point though... perhaps this would be better? Arnor Warband 1 Arvedui, Last King of Arnor 10 Warrior of Arnor Warband 2 Arathorn 4 Ranger of Arnor with Spear; 8 Ranger of Arnor Warbands 3,4,5 3 Dúnedain with Spear Rivendell Warband 1 Glorfindel, Lord of the West with Armour of Gondolin; 4 High Elf Warrior with Elven Blade; 4 High Elf Warrior with Shield; Spear; 4 High Elf Warrior with Elf Bow; Warband 2 Elrond with Heavy armour; 6 Knight of Rivendell with Shield; =970pts (so 30 points spare to spend on some upgrades (horses for the elf heroes might be a good idea)) With that you've got theme, troops, big thumpy heroes and magic. |

Now that is decent! And has exactly what I want! Also means I don't need to buy any extra boxes for single models! Thank you. |

What battle of fornost you wanna re create? when the witch king attacked or the forces of the free peoples end angmar for good? I would suggest to keep the forces balanced and fluff And to this battle 3 factions went to war against angmar... the rangers and the remain survivors of arnor Gondor And rivendell/grey havens Averdui and Malbet are during the war with angmar. Eanor, Glorfindel, Elrond and such are after, dealing a blow to angmar´s downfall, and this not include halbarad nor arathorn... All united under the banner of the free peoples to drive the evil out of the north forever. |
